My favorite part?
Officials said the clerk was able to reach behind the counter to pick up her gun and discharge it, hitting one of the men in the head.

Doubtful. The difference between grazing someone on the head and blowing the fucker's brains out is way too close to call in the heat of the moment. That sort of thing only happens in movies. The fact that she hit at all near the head means she was either REALLY off the mark from shooting the bastard in his chest, or she just found out how hard it really is to get a headshot even at very close ranges.

No one is that good a shot, and a graze will not place you in critical condition in the hospital. Its likely he got lucky and the bullet hit his face and was likely stopped by one bones. Or if it was a very low caliber weapon, not likely, he might have taken a skull hit but with minimal penetration.
