Patrick O'Brian Novels
Someone at work told me that they are better than the Horatio Hornblower Novels. Has anyone read any of Patrick O'Brian Novels and what do they think of them?

Horatio Hornblower is more for the casual fan. Patrick O'Brian is very technical.

"The Wire" is the best show in the history of television. Watch it today.

Re: Patrick O'Brian Novels
For the laymen Horatio Hornblower is a far, far better series. They explain the important techical bits and the rest can be figured out from the context. They're also faster paced and more action oriented. The technical details in the O'Brian novels will overwhelm a novice reader easily. They're good but not for the land lubber.Kitsune wrote:Someone at work told me that they are better than the Horatio Hornblower Novels.
