I'm pretty much conservative on things (taxes, RKBA, small efficient guvmint) but I'm a bit socially liberal (basically sums up to "Leave me the fuck alone you racist homophobic Congressman! Quit trying to legislate the bedroom!") on others. Generally I prefer low taxes and minimal government/state interference in the following: what I can own (I'll TAKE the 5-gallon-per-flush toilet, thank you! Oh, and the M16 assault rifles and shotguns for the boys too!) , who and how many I can have sex with/marry (aforementioned boys [they're all over the age limit and in no way genetically related to me so crapball_88 and ArminiASS quit fantasizing NOW you perverted racist sheep rapists!] ... all 5 of em, plus my husband Dave), what I can do to someone trying to kill me (remember the M16s? Actually I'll use my 357Magnum Taurus Titanium cuz it's easier for conceal carry), what I can build (HIGH-POWERED STAINLESS STEEL SPUDGUNS! DEDICATED MP3/WAREZ SERVERS! 1e38W SUPERLASERS! ), and what I can grow and harvest (Toke, Mon! Cheers to the Victory Garden!). Get the picture? Lata and Happy Fragging!

Whoa, white cat, you and I pretty much came to same conclusions. I decided a long time ago that the one dimensional system of political organization was too narrow. I'd played around with a two dimensional model (with north and south...guess what poltical ideology would be in the south :D), and I even played around with a 3 dimensional model for a while in my head.

I never actually finished anything though. But you're system fits my designs perfectly. I hereby adopt it as my own....

Liberal? do you mean that in the traditional 19th century meaning? I mysef would be a concidered a right wing Labour supporter.

Argghhh, there is more to political parties and opinions than that, what about Labour, green, christian etc etc? there are so many shades depending on your nation of origin. New zealand has, for example, more than one party but they are not detirmined only by right or left, but by certain policies. I honestly dont know how, for example, the US can tolerate two partys it simply is not representative of peoples opinions. think three dimnetionaly!

moderate-conservative:

Abortion: against it personally, but against banning it completely, because people have to make their own decisions.

Birth Control: personal choice only. I would never use it, but then my wife and I have been trying to have children for years now, so it would defeat the purpose.

Taxes: always for less taxes.

Military: want the best military for my money's worth. That means I'm against spending cuts... as long as the military isn't wasting my money. But if they're going to continue to have cost overruns on projects that don't provide the capabilities they promised, I say cut the money off.

Welfare: nothing wrong with welfare... but I think there should be conditions for it (ie. time limits, have to show you're actively seeking to find better/supplemental income, additional children while on welfare doesn't increase your welfare disbursement).

Social Security: system is completely broken, because my SS taxes (which are supposed to be providing for my retirement) are paying for someone else's retirement right now. IMHO, the best solution is to abolish the SS tax, refund all SS proceeds (including interest) to those who haven't retired yet so that they can reinvest it and actually gain some money, and temporarily raise income taxes until all those currently collecting SS benefits stop receiving them.

Prayer in school: let kids pray if they want. But I am totally against forcing people to pray, particularly if they a) don't believe in prayer, or b) their religion prays in a completely different manner.

Moderately libertarian, which is closest to moderately conservative on the poll.

Actually, one could argue a 3D chart - social freedom, economic freedom and government size.

You can be forgiven for being new, but just to point out what will shortly become obvious to you: these people don't believe in benevolence or kindness. 8)

On the contrary. They exist. However, in this setting, intelligence and clarity of points is far more important than either of those.

This isnt about a political party. It is about the political LEANINGS, not some certain party. I would consider myself conservative, but im sure as heck not gonna vote for someone just because they are a political party. If you do that, you are on the verge of communism.
