That's cos thin-legged ones are creepier.

Which reminds me of the antics of Eight-Legged Freaks... -growls- Fucking kids.

I actually managed to sit all the way through 8 Legged Freaks. As hard as that was. Last night i almost walked out. But my sister was kind enough to tell me to wise up as it was only CGI. Some people had it worse than me. I'd read the books and knew she was comming, 90% of the audience lastnight didn't.

When it comes to arachniphobia, yes.

There was some idiot kid at my school who liked to play Magic, but couldn't stand to even look at the illustrations of spiders. So he would force his opponents to turn them over.

I told him one day "Look, I hardly use spiders in my deck. If I happen to use a spider, it's for a goddamn good reason, and it isn't to fuck with your head. It's fucked enough as is. You tell me to flip my creatures over so you don't have to look at them, I'll hear it as a "I give up". If you can't stand it, don't play the fucking game."

Yes, he got on everyone's nerves. :P

AOTC when Yoda shows up to save Obi-Wan and Anakin their was cheering.

And in Star Trek: Nemesis, when Janeway showed up, their was some jeering... well not exactly jeering, but more of a "WTF is she doing here?"

Only time I've encountered the clapping/whooping/cheering thing is in the States, this latest trip being a prime example. Why are people clapping at the end of the film? The cast and crew aren't there, they don't know whether you clap or not. At a theatre show, then it's good to let the actors know you appreciate what they've done, but at a film showing? :?

Laughing during a film, happens all the time, and is normally a good sign, but the whole clapping and cheering thing... what's the point? I paid money to watch a film, not listen to some retard whoop at the top of his lungs at the start of a movie. Would you clap if it were a showing on DVD at you home? Of course not, so why do it at a cinema?

It's because you're a stuffy Brit.

... Sir. :P

Anyhow, in RotK, obviously there was much cheering and clapping, and I heard a good amount of laughter, especially from Gimli's "That only counts as one!"

Other than that, there have been moments, but I can't remember specifics. :( What I do remember is seeing ANH: SE in theaters, and feeling a chill go up my spine when the words, "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." came up...

Virtually every one of Gimli's ROTK lines got a laugh from the crowd, especially "Impossible odds? Certain death? What are we waiting for?" :D

And when Barad-dur collapsed, the theater went nuts. People were out of their seats and cheering, and I mean EVERY SINGLE PERSON.

Tonight I saw it again, but these three idiotic teenagers started giggling widly during the last few scenes. After the credits started to roll this guy chewed them out and called them "a bunch of jackasses." Pretty satisfying.

EWGH! Seconded, Imperator! I have the same damn opinion of Chicago too, especially after one of my ex-roommates watched it *9* times in a row the same day the computer was b0rked. I still think his timing _wasn't_ a coincidence!!

JFC! I was lucky to manage to sit through it once.... Richard Gere singing should be banned in the Geneva Convention... That man has about as much singing talent as Mariah Carey... *shudders*

Hell, even Peter Jurasik proved he has more talent than those two combined when he sang "Me and My Shadow" for the B5 Blooper Reel....and that says alot!

Damn, yeah, I had no idea a film could make me want to harm a small child, but that one sure did.

The only film I can remember getting a cheer was ROTK, when Legolas takes down the Mumakil, and you can hear Gimli yelling indignantly. "That still only counts as one!" -That got a huge laugh out of the audience.
