ANN: New screen name

Post by Durandal »

For those of you who already have my screen name, I had to change it. The old account was originally created with AOL, and my dad finally canceled his AOL subscription, so that name was suspended. Sad, but it was being overrun with IM spam anyway. So I got a new screen name. It is the same as the old one, except the "64" portion has been changed to "49". Just IM me and I'll add you to my buddy list if I wasn't able to recall your screen name.

I wasn't sure of the terminology, I've forgotten a lot of stuff...

On that note, I thought that technically that whole numbers don't exist or something...

Way back when I created my first screen name, I needed a number in there, and I figured that I might as well make my screen name 64-bit compatible when the era of 64-bit computing finally hit. :)

49 is 7-squared, and 7 is just the coolest number there is.

It's a mathematical fact. I'll have to get around to proving it someday.

I didn't think coolness was measurable when dealing with mathematics, but I wouldn't really know as I'm just a music teacher. Besides, I was always partial to the number eight. That's just because it looks pretty on ice, though. :P

I always liked 5, goes into 10 well. And our whole number system is base 10.

That's only because we have 10 fingers :P

IIRC, Mayans had a base 20 number system...

Seven may be the coolest in your opinion, but even it is subordinate to the Law of Fives.

5 = 2 + 3

5 * 2 - 3 = 7

Cool is a qualitative value, whereas coolness is a quantitative value. Of course it's a mathematical fact. -chuckles-

As for myself, I like 13. 8)

Hee hee, I like 13 myself. Poor Templars.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I like 12. It's nice and orderly (a 1 and a 2) while still being small, and the word "dozen" is just cool. And lots of things come in dozens, like pastries.
Don't hate; appreciate!

7 was easily the scariest number, as 7 8 9.

I made the mistake of listing my screen name on /. and one or two BBS's. This mistake will not be repeated.

Odd, as I the only IM spam I receive is on ICQ extremely occasionally, and Y! even moreso. Never get any on AIM or MSN.
