But they're so cute!! Especially when doused in lighter fluid and launched, flaming, into the air.

eBay gives you the most accurate listing of what prices people are willing to buy them for.

No, no, no, no. POGs are right with Beanie Babies, haven't seen either this millenium. Magic: TG has its same cult following, but surprisingly its normal playing cards that tend to dominate my high school cafeteria. That and gameboys/consoles in general becoming standard. People collect GBA cartridges nowadays. From marbles and jumping jacks to POGs and Pokemon cards, old-school collectibles are so last century.

You mean those little cardboard circles with pictures on them? I was in elementary school when they were big, and I believe at one time, there was as a kit that let you make your own. They're probably with a few cents a peice now.

I worked at McDonalds while going to college. Beanie Babies came out just as I was finishing up. I remember the people backing up the drive through at midnight to buy bagfuls of beanie babies. I remember prissy suburbanite women pitching screaming fits because they couldn't get their toys. I remember being offered twenty dollar tips to let people buy beanie babies when we told them we were out. I remember having to lock window on people at closing time because they wouldn't stop coming. I remember having to send some of our beanie babies to Centre because somebody managed to stop a truck and rob the shipment (I can't remember if they hijacked the truck or just managed to make it stop somehow).

I HATE Beanie Babies.

What have McDonalds got to do with Beanie Babies?

I have a rather interesting story about them actually. When my ex and I had been seeing each other for about nin months, I wanted to look somehtin up in the GeolSoc library, on Piccadilly. He worked at the time in Planet Hollywood at Piccadilly Circus, so I popped in to see him before heading off down Piccadilly. On a whim I wandered into the Teddy Bear Co . on the way. I ended up looking at the Beanies, and was just looking at them, when a white 'angel' bear with gold wings and halo and gold glitter caught my eye. I picked it up to have a look (it was the first thing I touched in the shop), and read the tag - Beanie's each have 'birthdays', and this one shared a birthday with my boyf. This freaked me out a little, so I resolved to buy it (not a lot of choice here). But before I did, I thought I'd better look at another one just to unfreak myself out (you know, when something wierd happens, how you decided to push it to proove it was nothing...) so I picked up an elephant that my eye had landed on before I noticed the bear.
That elephant had my birthday.
So then, really freaked out, I bought the Beanies and legged it.
Rob still has them, but I'm not sure he believes just how coincidental it as that I ONLY looked at those two while in the shop that I woudlnt' usually have gone into...

McDonalds offer beanie babies in a certain period of time each year with the happy meal IIRC.~Jason
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
