Be careful man, the Eagles have been down this road before and come up empty--best not to jinx them, especially the way they played tonight, they're damn lucky they won. Still, they're gonna ruin Carolina's shit next week for sure. And--in what will be a very close game--Indy will come out on top of NE. I know the former to be true, but I'm iffy on the latter.

I am merely celebrating a win that will go down in history as one of the greatest in Eagles history. Believe me, I know full well about disasterous championship losses to teams from the NFC South.

You should be thanking Favre as well. Seriously, what the hell was he thinking?

Very well.
Who said it? OVERRATED. They got WHIPPED by Manning (The Badass) and the rest of Indy.
Gloat away, its your right being in the victory circle but atleast make your gloating accurate. Wipped is hardly how it happened.
They're damn lucky they only lost by a TD; Dante Hall shouldn't have got that kick-return TD, but whatever, I'll take the win.
Or the TD by Gonzo that didn't count cause of the penalty and we should have had that FG. But I digress, you were right. Indy is victorious.

Go New England!

Now, now, you have to respect Brett Favre.

As for our immediate future, this is so our year.

On the other hand, we have almost no defense anymore. There are so beat up, huge credit to Jim Johnson for getting the job done so many times today and all season. They may well finally collapse for good and all next week.

But whatever happens, three straight NFC championship appearences is a huge accomplishment. It would hurt to not go to the superbowl and it would be great to win it, but the Eagles deserve huge respect for getting so far and playing so consistently despite all sorts of adversity.

Pretty-boy Peyton and the Dome Debutantes will freeze their balls off in a real footbal stadium. 24-17 New England.

Sorry, colonel, as much as I'm wrong when disagreeing with you, I HAVE to think that Tony Dungy is going to ass rape his special teams during the break, and ream out their assholes with powerdrills. I predict Indy shows up in NE with the Defense actually performing, and Indy's uber offense decimates the NE def. line. I predict last night's game was the last of the high scoring games in these here playoffs.

personally i think NE's defense against Indy's offense could make for a game for the ages.Including the playoff on Saturday, New England has allowed only 3 touchdowns at home since oct. 5th, and they are #1 in the leauge in points allowed, their red zone D is the best in the leauge, and they are healthy. Meanwhile Manning is on FIRE. It's like he's channeling the cosmic energy Johnny Unitas through the Ghost of Colts past. 10 TD's in 2 games.... damn. This game will be the better of the two, because i think Philly will kick the motherloving shit out of Carolina.

Funny, that's what I heard about them heading down to KC...

Except KC's defense seems to consist of the Central Kansas City High School Jay Vee squad.

Yeah, but people forget that both years when he (Unitas) went to the super-bowl he was out preformed by Earl Morral, who started off as a second stringer never to see action. Not exactly a ghost I'd like to be channeling.

All BS aside, Dungy needs to get his defense on track or next Sunday will be a long day for the Colts.

If he doesn't, Priest Holmes and Peyton Manning will be at the same SB party watching the game.

I think the big factor in the Eagles/Panthers game is the Carolina offense against the Philly defense. Barring a total screw-up, Carolina won't get much in the air; Philly's defense is stingy on allowing passes to go anywhere. On the other hand, the Eagles are missing five linemen who would be starters on virtually any other squad. Smith and Muhammad are tough to cover, but the Eagles have a fast backfield. Stephen Davis is going to be a bitch to stop, though. The Eagles have had trouble against the run due to losing half their defensive team to injuries. However, despite giving up a lot of yardage, they've been stingy on points, with the 7th lowest points allowed total in the regular season.

Philly's offense is a bit lower-powered now than in the regular season, due to the loss of Westbrook to a torn tricep. However, they don't need to score much. Their opponents averaged under 18 points a game for the season, while the Eagles averaged just over 30. Carolina's a definite threat, particularly on the ground. This should be a good game.

The Eagles will have a bit of an advantage if Davis plays because they've played him quite a few times before while he was a Redskin (of course, that knowledge goes both ways, but it's harder for 1 guy to anticipate 11 than it is for 11 guys to anticipate 1).

Ultimately, whoever runs for Carolina won't matter much: they'll get their yards. What the Eagles have to do is keep the Panthers out of the end zone. Let them kick field goals all day--you see how far that got St. Louis--but don't let them score touchdowns. That means they can't allow Davis or anyone else to break off a 30, 40 yard run, and they've got to shut down Jake Delhomme (it goes without saying that the kick coverage teams can't go do something stupid, either). Delhomme is a good QB, but he's young, and he can be made to throw picks if he's got Nate Wayne or N.D. Kalu pounding his face into the turf.

On the offensive side, the Eagles recievers have to get open, and in order to help them get open, Buckhalter and Staley and McNabb are all going to have to run, so Carolina can't just sit back and defend the pass. Conversely, if Pinkston and Thrash can get open and McNabb can hit them, Carolina won't be able to stack 8 men in the box. Not having Westbrook really hurts the entire offense because he can run and catch from basically anywhere on the field. THe Eagles need to score touchdowns, especially in the red zone. The last thing they need to do is play Carolina's game. If they learned anything from Mike Martz's and Mike Sherman's choke jobs, it's that when you've got your foot on a team's throat, you don't let off and take it to overtime. I'd play aggressive against the Panthers and try to build a big lead early.
