Melbourne has retained its position as the top city in the world to call home followed by Vancouver, Vienna, Perth, Geneva and – all equally good – Adelaide, Brisbane, Copenhagen, Montreal, Oslo, Sydney, Zurich.

Other major cities where ranked as follows:

Helsinki, Stockholm and Toronto (all no. 13), Paris (28 ), London (45), Dublin and New York (both no. 51).

Vancouver is in the top 10? Vancouver? what is there to do in Vancouver? Meanwhile Paris and New York are waaaaaaaay down the list. Hmmm i think this list is a clandestine joint venture between the Canadian and Austrailian Tourism boards.

Oh and for anyone not from Auz wondernig whats going on, Melbourn and Sydney have a long standing rivelry.

Well the 'rivelry' isn't really fair since Melbourne's night life totally shits all over Sydney to make it look like an 18th Century Victorian heaven, but yeah I would support that statement.

We put on the best Olympics ever, they put on the Commonwealth Games.

Yeah thank God Sydney put on Australia's first ever Olympic- hang on? There is something buzzing in my ear, it sounds like 1956 ... I wonder what that means? 1956, why should that matter? Hmm have to think about that ...

They built a big stadium, we built the biggest in the Country e.t.c.

A claim that held true during the games (reached a capacity of 100,000+), but now is 'only' a pultry 6,000+ people more than Telstra Dome ... oh well I guess we'll have to make do with *just* that, oh and the MCG and yeah I guess if we are feeling charitable we could include Melbourne Park, you know the place we hold the Australian Open!

Actually Paris and New York lost due to crime IIRC.

Yesterday was a nice summer day in Melbourne

Temperature was 16 degrees celcius, it was raining and the cloud was hanging at a nice 500 to 800 feet. Barometer was 1003 millibars. Dewpoint was 0 degrees. wind was a southerly 180 degrees at 10 to 15 knots. Cloud was 8 octas overcast with cloud tops as high as 18,000ft

Sydney was 28 degrees celcius, some scattered showers, clouds at 3,500 feet up to 20,000ft with Cumulus thunderstorm cloud in the area. Barometer was 1009, dewpoint was 18 degrees. Wind was southwesterly at 200 degrees, 15 knots with gusts up to 35 knots. Cloud was 6 octas tending toward 7 later in the day.

I know which one more closley represents summer.

Total misrepresentation. Just a few days before it was excessively hot, we were surely in the high 30s. And then, thankfully, a cold front came in. As I look out of my window today (thursday) there's not a cloud in the sky (ok, so I'm only looking out one window, but so what).

So up yours Sydney!

Im planning to move to Melbourne next year. But Sydney is still the best and Melbourne still sucks. bwahaha!

As an Adelaidian I am duty bound to say that Melbourne sucks. Sydney also. And Adelaide is a hole. But Melbourne sucksthe most.
