Any nations millitary spending is a political topic and you cannot avoid politics in any discussion of this nature. Every person has a political opinion and this colours this type of topic, you cannot avoid it particuly on web sites like this where opinions are very strongly held.
Political topics are interesting. To generalise an entire nation of people besides those political opinions is boring and tired. How are your sheep?

I couldnt agree more. How are your Texan rednecks?
But if you do get into a political discussion, ecpect it to devolve to point and counter-point, thats just the nature of people.
Via money Europe could become political in five years" "... the current communities should be completed by a Finance Common Market which would lead us to European economic unity. Only then would ... the mutual commitments make it fairly easy to produce the political union which is the goal"
Our Rednecks? Alive and breeding. However they are not mine. Im saying I didnt come on to get involved in point/counter point. I suppose I have to an extent, but its just not an interest of mine. Im more interested in peoples opinions on the subject...which I certainly have been getting. In the years I have been using the internet I've found that people become inordinately belliegerant and argumentive as soon as they put their fingers on the keyboard, arguing points they dont agree with, saying things they wouldnt in person to another, getting the feel of what is the fashionable opinion on the board and following it etc. I guess what Im saying is I was (and am) new this board and just wanted to get a feel of the atmosphere here. Being that Im a Dane, work for a Canadian company, live in America and just thought the news segment on the state of the Canadian military was...well, funny...I thought this would be a good topic to get that "feel" on. Im really more interested in finding out what that big ball on a Star Destroyer is to truth.

And Stuart, I dont mean this as a bad thing by any means. I was in New Zealand in 97' and if there are two groups of people who are alike in this world its Texans and New Zealanders. Honestly. They are both animated, oppinionated, similar agriculture, cowboy hats...I could really go on and on. The similarity was almost erie.

Ohh, I dunno about the cowboy hats but I think that peoples opinions on other nations depends on where they are from. Australians tend to think of Kiwi's as a dowdy boreing lot. As the famous saying goes, its all from 'A certain point of veiw"
