These recommendations don't all have to be good movies, so don't get angry if you can't enjoy the unintentional humor in some of mine.

The Specials
Eight Days a Week
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
(unintentional)
Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door
Young Frankenstein
Future War
(unintentional)
Jackass
Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Movie
Hobgoblins
(I don't need to explain)
Legend of Drunken Master
Big Trouble in Little China
Street Fighter: The Animated Movie
(look to anime for good game-to-film conversions)
Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture
Tekken: The Motion Picture
(disproves my previous theory)
random kid in the next town- We're playing "Harry Potter"!
Cartman- Ha, FAGS!!!

You need to get your feet off your head, and your pants to your ears and go help someone who HAS NO FEET! Because if foot-less animals can not walk over here on their little non-footed areas and tell us how hungry they are. I don't think they can.- Brak's Dad

There's a chick over at SB who uses the name Shinigami. She has a friend who uses the name Portable. I was using a somewhat roundabout way of finding out if you were her.

I already asked and it appears that they're not the same person

No, we're not. In fact, I usually tag a 64 to the end of my screen name. I just didn't feel like it this time. 8)

Movie Suggestions

Post by Mike_6002 »

Anything that has a action packed and intresting trailer, that gets my attention, but I don't go out to often and I have no spending money to go see movies unless I'm with my special needs group (I have Aspburger syndrome FYI)[Hoped I spelled it right]

Isn't that the movie that was actually two movies? Seperate movies with different actors and plots, but all the same FX shots? And that one shot of stuff blowing up in space that they used over and over again, flipping it 90 degrees each time? Damn, can't remember the name of the other movie, something like Ice Princess...

Anyhow, a few more movies that may have been missed so far:

Slipstream
Not a great movie, but an interesting one. Stars Mark Hamil and Bill Paxton among others. Hamil is a bounty hunter IIRC chasing an android around a post apocolyptic (sp?) world where everyone travels by planes and gliders. Slow at times, but beautiful in it's own way.

Dark City
La Femme Nikita (subtitled, not dubbed)
Akira
Serial Mom
Wonder Boys
Finding Forrester (one of my all times faves)
Blade Runner
Manhunter (based on Red Dragon, came out in the 80's)
Memento ("did I tell you about my condition?" "yes, Lenny")
Hearts of Darkness (the documentary about the making of Apocolypse Now)
Metropolis
L.A. Confidential
The Usual Suspects
Monty Python (loved 'em all)
and anything by Terry Gilliam

guilty pleasure:
Flash Gordon, the one with the Queen soundtrack

(edit: removed some sloppy BBCoding, added a few movies)

Here goes:
Dark City - Just brilliant. Flawed, but brilliant. One of those movies that wouldn't have been nearly so good if they had been perfect.
Rob Roy - One of the few mature faux history plays I've seen.
Pitch Black - Essentially the same basic premise as Alien. But this one was better.
City of Lost Children - Gorgeous, weird, warm-hearted.
Matrix - The science is laughable, the ending stupid... but you don't notice because it's just so well put together.
Coc Rogue - One of the older swedish Carl Hamilton movies, back when they were still good. This movie beats the shit out of almost any modern thriller. Suspenseful and excellently played.

Guilty pleasure:
The Musketeer - Just don't understand the knocks this one has been getting. I mean, of course it's not going to be even remotely plausible. It's a fucking matinee flick, for christ's sake! It's camp! The fencing was (mostly) good an appropriately outrageous, and there were some really funny (and campy) dialogue. What's not to like?
The Rock - Anyone who's seen it realizes it's just a premise for blowing shit up and waving the american flag. But that's immaterial, since it's such a fucking cool movie.

A good movie:

The Lords of Discipline

Edit: forgot to add a scary movie: The Hitcher.

Rutger Hauer is the man.

If that's sarcasm I'll get Rutger Hauer to OWN you with his massive fucking two-handed bejeweled sword. The last fight in the church is fucking great.

It is sarcasm, and I like the movie. I just wish it was re-released with a soundtrack that didn't suck monkey balls.

I didn't mind the sound track- I thought it worked. The opening credits was a bit too 'modern' but for the entirety of the movie I found it unobtrusive yet noticeable. Take the fight in the church between Nevar(sp?) and Markay(sp?)- "Imperius! Wait! Stop!" Markay runs in front of him, music starts= good.

Rutger H. is cool, from Soldier of Orange, to Blade Runner, to Nighthawks, to Flesh and Blood, to The Hitcher, he just rocks.
