No matter what happens in Calgary, Ducks are guaranteed at least a split after snuffing out the Flames 4-1 at the Honda Center tonight.

Methinks Beauch got under Iginla's skin a little bit, doesn't Jarome remember what happened the last time the two duked it out? One of the more lopsided tilts of the 05-06 playoffs.

Yeah, he's been hurt/ineffective since the end of '04, but he's starting to pick up the pace again in C-bus... And of course he always manages at least one big night against his former team every year... :?

You might not have to worry long. One of the rumors I hear is that he could be on his way to Montreal if the Jackets and Habs can work out a deal. But then again it is just a rumor.

Pfff, rumors. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not too worried though; Fedorov doesn't scare me. Wings will probably win the next three or four games against the Jackets and ol' Sergei will drop a big goose egg on the score sheet.

I actually saw the Ducks game on Yahoo!, pretty good tilt between your boy Pornstache and Regher. :P Man, I miss when the Wings were tough and guys like Bob Probert, Joe Kocur and Stu Grimson would fuck you up if you touched Stevie or Sergei. Seems like so long ago...

Why not? It's not like the Jackets haven't been at least a quarter of the Wings' standings points since they joined the league ;-)

Plans are in the works for a Parros Poster and fake stache brigade the likes of which have never been seen! Which won't be hard since none have existed before.

As predicted: Wings dominate Jackets, win by a 5-0 count.

Should-be All Star Dan Cleary potted two more to bring his total to a team leading 13 ( ). He's finally realized his potential whilst donning the Winged Wheel.

Also, Ducks already have 58 points this season! They're on pace to tie the '76 Canadiens for most points in a season... though I doubt that mark will be reached, they're still on a helluva run. But if I've learned anything about the season it's this:

Everybody goes back to square one once the playoffs start.

Prequel style Edit: (one that is placed at beginning of post)

Actually, its 60 points now. But even though there is a possibility for the PResident's trophy, I am not concerned with NHL records. Records are icing on the cake, but the Stanley Cup is the cake. Mmmm Cake....

Which the Wings have learned the hard way. As soon as I saw that score at the Honda Center tonight I thought "Shit, DGG is gonna be happy." Its always nice to stick it to a team like that and not let them start a winning streak.

The Parros Poster Project was a success. A small number were distributed throughout the stadium, the Radio and TV guys seemed to really like it and a couple of fans who moved down to the seats managed to get Parros' autograph for me. (He was a healthy scratch tonight) I will be stepping up efforts to get him some votes for the All Star game. It may not be as successful as the "Vote for Rory" campaign, but I think Enforcers should get into the game as well. Wouldn't it be great to see the best fighter from each conference just wail on each other for 10-15 minutes?

Road woes continue. Damn.

Most aggrivating was the loss to Vancouver. At least the losses against Anaheim and San Jose were against good teams.

Following up the worst loss of the season with swift and terrible VENGEANCE has to be one of the best feelings there is in sport.

Yargh, but at what cost?

Giguere is day to day, Marchant is out for now, O'Donnell might be back soon, but the biggest loss was Beauchemin who is out for at least a month with a lacerated spleen. Shit, and Detroit has decided to stop sucking lately in preparation for the Jan 2 game and we're down a chunk of our best defensive supporting players.

Detroit vs. Anaheim begins soon, I must say I enjoyed the part of the Yzerman Ceremony that was shown. Especially the part about making Steve feel young by bringing in so many older players.

I've been a bit out of the loop lately, I didn't realize Anaheim was so banged up. Pronger, Giguere, Beauchemin and Marchant is a big chunk of that team. Still, they played very well. Dom definitely saved our bacon in the first with all the defensive zone turnovers.

It was a beautiful ceremony, Steve must've hated standing up there and receiving that standing-O, he did his best to get in and out, but we love Steve. Congratulations to the greatest ever! Yzerman for President!

The Sharks spotted the Red Wings three goals in the early going, but went on to DOMINATE the game. They scored SIX power play goals, and appeared to draw another three or four obvious penalties against the Red Wings that went uncalled (I guess the refs were more merciful to the Wings than the crowd was). Both starting netminders were pulled--Nabokov after giving up the early three and Hasek after giving up a career worst eight, but really not playing that badly, IMO. The goals he gave up were mostly off of screens and shots he had little or no chance on. Only Mike Grier scored twice for the Sharks, but Joe Thornton recorded four assists.

Sorry, DGG, but this was Sharks territory.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. How we beat San Jose last time without a few key players is beyond me after looking at that score.

EDIT:

Jarome Iginla injured in a fight during the game with Florida, no word yet as to how seriously. While I don't like seeing players get injured, I have no problem if Iginla gets punched very hard.

It was certainly one of the more solid thumpings the Wings have received in many years. It could've been worse if Detroit hadn't blocked the extra point after San Jose's touchdown at the end.

Anyways, I'm already over it. If Hasek has any sense at all (and he's one of the most mentally tough guys in the history of the game, so he does) he, alongside the rest of the team, will throw this one out and move on.

Congrats to the Sharks for winning the season series, 3-1.

Nabokov played very poorly in that game, giving up three soft goals. Also, the Sharks were without their best defenseman and two of their top six forwards, so it's not like the injuries were all one-sided (technically, McLaren had the flu).

He doesn't seem to have been too seriously injured--he went to the penalty box and served his five, then went to the dressing room. Still, that's not bad news.

Leafs hand Boston a 10-2 thumping. Leafs, one day they're sucking and getting thumped by some under 500 team, the next day they're playing like champs. 8 game winning streak to 7 game losing slump, you never know which team's going to show up on any given day.

What's been wrong with the Sharks' powerplay for the rest of the year? We've only scored 11 PP goals in the last two games. If we had done that for the entire year, we would have won all the rest of our games for sure.
