I wish you luck as well. Sometimes my body can't decide if it wants to be hypo- or hyperglycemic at times. Sometimes I need insane amounts of suger just to budge me, and other times all I need is a tiny bit to get me almost as hyper as Iggy... Still other times I'll switch from "Downer" mode to "Speed" mode in mid-meal. Works just like a supercharged Haste Rune from Quake. Phun!!

It's kind of wierd how the onset of diabetes happened for me. I think that I had been hypoglycemic for years-sometimes I'd get out of bed and be shaky and nervous feeling.
In the summer of '98 I started losing weight. This went on for months, people would remark about it and I'd just shake it off.
Then around New Year's 98-99, I was drying off after my shower and noticed that my biceps were smaller than my shoulder. I've always been thin but this scared the shit out of me.
In February, I got a flu-like bug, which laid me out for like a week. After I got over that, I noticed that I was weak as hell, and had a thirst like you CAN NOT imagine. I'd cup my hands underneath the faucet and drink water 'till my stomach hurt, it was so full. And this wouldn't even faze the thirst.
Stubborn asshole that I am, I let this go on 'til mid March. I was going to work on a Sunday and realized that I couldn't drive. I went to my parent's and told them to take me to the hospital. They told me there that my immune system had basically fried the insulin producing areas of my pancreas. But that didn't explain the weight loss I'd been experiencing for eight or so months. Or the, what I suspect, were hypoglycemic episodes I'd been having since my early twenties.
BTW, I was 138lbs when I checked into the hospital. I'm 6'4", that's 64lbs below ideal weight, so they told me.
But now I shoot my insulin twice a day, eat *almost* anything I want, and am at a healthy 200lbs. Believe me, when I found out it was diabetes, I was relieved! All I could think was AIDS or cancer.
