It's not duct tape, per se, but in SW they have a utility tape called, you got it, engine tape. Tough as hell and can stick to practically anything. It was featured in Children of the Jedi, where the Gammoreans aboard the Eye used it to build a shantytown out of garbage.
Well, at least it works. It's been referred to since in several novels.
Me and Rob were up til half 2 looking for more stopcock-like objects - by the time we gave up and went to bed, we'd turned off all sources of water except the radiator. Rob thinks the main stopcock is on the roof in a boarded up bunker.
The plumber came over at 9 this morning, decided we needed a new radiator (I coukld have told him that) and congratulated me on turning off the valves on the radiator. On his advice we've got water (except cold in the bathroom - a hidden tap that Rob turned off and I cant' find now), and we're waiting for the radiator to dry out - there appear to be holes in that story, but I've had very little sleep.
At the moment I'm on 'mop the ceiling' mode - my ceiling tunrs out to be concrete, and so has soaked it all up like a sponge.
My head hurts.
