This is worse than when Charles M. Schultz died. What a shit way to start spring break.
To those of you wondering, before he died, he sat down and picked out something like 200 of what he considered his best episodes for re-running, and PBS plans to run them pretty much forever.

Any city gets what it admires, will pay for, and, ultimately, deserves…We want and deserve tin-can architecture in a tinhorn culture. And we will probably be judged not by the monuments we build but by those we have destroyed.--Ada Louise Huxtable, "Farewell to Penn Station", New York Times editorial, 30 October 1963

It's sad. I remember watching Mr. Rogers when I was lil. To bad he didn't get that much time to enjoy his retirement. I think that his last show was only a few months ago (or a year). I was shocked to find out that one person actually never hear of Mr. Roger before today . Of course there are some people on this board that didn't know who Mr. Rogers was but they are from out of the country so they don't really count.

Really? I'll bet that Mr. Rogers would've written the guy a note back saying, "Apology accepted; just don't do it again" if he knew who the guy was.Typhonis 1 wrote:The guy once had his car stoln...it was returned the next day with a note of appology in it...and yes from what I understand Mr.Rodgers Neighboorhood is in reruns .He also donated a sweater to the Smithsonian

This was how I started my day, too, with the announcement on the news. That guy made a big impression on my life as a youngster and it was, indeed, admirable how he never compromised his values or turned out to be a wierdo. He was our best neighbor.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Also how I started out my day. Gawd that was depressing. Don't meet that many decent people who aren't "strange" in some way....other than being decent, sadly.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Slowly but surely all the people of my childhood are passing away. Getting old sucks.

You know that huge traffic light that he had, right next to his fishtank? I used to want one of those so badly when I was a kid. I thought he was so awesome.

You know, I watched that show for years and I just got "King Friday the XIII" now.Sokar wrote:*sniff* I suddenly feel very old......
I loved Mr. Rogers, watched it daily as a little tyke. All gone now, no more King Friday the XIII, Prince Tuesday, Daniel Striped Tiger, Lady Averland or Handyman Neghrey......*sigh*

I like many people grew up on Mr. Rogers. Well, it's a sad day in the neighborhood. He'll be sorely missed.
