Haven't had this happen with married woman, but a few times with engaged women (who weren't wearing their ring, I thought you gals loved that thing? )

Try turning the conversation to where you/they live (like what part of town), whether its an apartment or house, how big their place is, then ask if they live alone or with someone. If you do it sincerely enough then its just idle conversation, and you can get the info you need.

Ahhhh. I have a friend who had just gotten engaged the week before this party, and a guy she had always wanted to hook up with came in the door. And you know what she did? Slid the ring off her finger and stuck it in her pocket. That made me sooooooooooooooooo angry.....
