Excellent. These new stars look a lot better with this theme - thank you.Darth Wong wrote:True. Anyone who's got a good-looking 12-pixel high icon with a transparent background can always offer it as a replacement [EDIT: actually, I can assign a different star icon for each theme, so I changed the subSilver star icon to one that should look better on a bright background]phongn wrote:My only beef is that when you use the SubSilver theme the yellow stars don't look too good, but otherwise an excellent idea.

Call me crazy, but I actually think the stars are kind of annoying. Most of us who post here alot can figure out seniority for themselves, along with the newbies we get who are actually worth a damn. What do you think we have post counts for? This just seems to me like a pointless pissing contest.

It can't be a pissing contest if the only thing that counts towards getting these stars is time.irishmick79 wrote:Call me crazy, but I actually think the stars are kind of annoying. Exactly. It's a reminder to the people who join and run up huge postcounts overnight that they should be careful before saying "n00b!" to low-post people who have been around a lot longer than they have.

Ok, so I get a little star that says I've been around for a while. Whop de freakin' do. Why bother when, with a glance, you can find the time I joined? It's just redundant. That, and the yellow color clashes horribly with my avatar.

That doesn't happen in reality. Most people don't look at boring data like that. The stars are an instantly visible reminder.irishmick79 wrote:Ok, so I get a little star that says I've been around for a while. Whop de freakin' do. The stars are cute, I certainly don't mind them and Dalton is right there are people here far shorter time than I that have something like three times my post count but I'm a SD.Net First One.

I like the stars because they are sign of time and not posts or title. Its just a personal preference but I rather have lots of stars than a custom title.Dalton wrote:It can't be a pissing contest if the only thing that counts towards getting these stars is time.irishmick79 wrote:Call me crazy, but I actually think the stars are kind of annoying. -I know what you are talking about. I've been here forever, but you would never know from my post count and I probably just barely make enough posts to get above the background noise...
-In fact, I have no idea if what if any reputation I've got here or if I've pissed people off or not. Well I guess I haven't yet pissed Mr. Wong off yet due to not having a "custom title," but besides that...
-It will also give me a reason to pick on my sister if I can convince her to post here...

Ooh, I have three stars. And Ebert and Roeper gave me two thumbs up! Or at least I think those were thumbs. They could have been middle fingers.
Anyway, I don't mind it, but I have a question: What happens several years from now? I mean, in 5 years, the oldest members will have 20 stars, and that will look awkward.

I wondered where those came from. I thought at first that it was a troll body count, like the way the cowboys in the Old West supposedly put a notch in their gun... and then I realized that if that was it, each of Darth Wong's posts would take up half a page of shiny little stars.

Well, that would certainly explain why I suddenly feel like I've walked into a convention of admirals.Darth Wong wrote:You may notice little yellow stars under peoples' names.
