Mine is the emblem to the Commonwealth navy from the hit game I-War, it has Independence War written on it and the ship shown is the NSO-929 series Dreadnaught corvette.

My banner below is from the same game showing the Commonwealth navy on the left, their insignia in the centre and the Indie movement navy on the right fighting for independence.

My avatar is Saitoh Hajime from the anime Rurouni Kenshin. He is the former captain of the 3rd Unit of the Shinsengumi. He's about the only person who can fight the main character to a draw, and is one cynical SOB.

Avatar 1: Rebel insignia fused with the Imperial insignia. It was a play on the yinyang thing.
Avatar 2: Sami from Advance Wars. I picked her cause she's good-looking and my favorite CO in that game.
Avatar 3: Zelda trophy from Super Smash Bros. Melee. She's my favorite Nintendo character.
Avatar 4: Return of Sami.
Avatar 5: Sonja from Advance Wars. Another of the female CO's.

There's only two avatars that I've used since I've started on this board, but I'll probably change it again with a rank promotion.

Avatar 1: Gazel Ministry member, from Xenogears (scrapped it early on because it seemed pretentious).
Avatar 2 (Current): Seal of the Humankind Empire Abh, from Hiroyuki Morioka's Seikai no Senki books. Unfortunately, I had to swipe it from a screengrab of the anime (the grab wasn't of the best quality, being from a VHS copy of the original broadcast).

Mine's a picture of a Barrett M82, which is a semi automatic .50 BMG rifle that can really reach out and put holes thru things. It'll reach out and put a hole thru you and both sides of your car from over a mile away.

I usually alternate my avatars with character portraits from Xenogears.
Right now I'm using my own cheaply made avatar to illustrate the point that good guys are sissies.

My avatar is the logo of Black Mesa Research Facility's Lambda Sector. I just updated it with a better image that I took from Half-Life's loading splash screen.

I chose it primarily because of my TGOD/RPG personality, Johan Ragle. His backstory is somewhat tied into Half-Life's story; a survivor of the interdimensional breach who somehow wound up in the STGOD universe.

Mine is one of the Chapter markers from the Wheel of Time books. The actual file is borrowed from the WOT Faq. I always liked them and decided to use them. My first avatar was also a WOT chapter marker I colorized.

Mine is clipped from a piece of concept art from a video game called War of Genesis. The artwork is by Hyung Tae Kim. His work is great. The reason I use it is because it looks a little like me and the entire picture is how I see one of my Vampire characters looking.

Mine is from Catch-22. I picked it because Bean was bothering me about it and I didn't want to get one that was all nicely detailed with a character or one with an airplane or something like that. Besides, Heller is a very good writer and I sometimes do feel as if I'm trapped by a huge number of idiots and silly rules, and I still don't want to show off with a really flashy avatar or signature. It worked out perfectly.
