Most Irritating Music?
Moderator: Edi
Two of the songs that have annoyed me recently are:
Steps - Chain Reaction
I have happy memories of this Diana Ross track (I was about 6 when it was released), so the shock and slack-jawed horror that came when I heard what Steps and their godawful production company had done to it was epic. Sorry, but there's no other term for it but gang rape. They've taken that melody and added so many shitty electronic backing samples and feeble "neat tricks" (like the song abruptly fading out to highlight the entry of one of the "vocalists") that the whole song is rent asunder, collapsing into a super-intense singularity of suckage and clag. Never before has a track by a manufactured pop "band" made my blood boil to such an extent. Bastards!
Atomic Kitten - The Tide is High
Yet again a pleasant song is flattened by the Panzertruppen of today's Shitty British Music industry. Not as annoying as Steps' attrocity, perhaps, but in a way probably more tragic. Imagine Blondie's original, but performed by a bunch of artists who are undoubtedly talented, but sing in exactly the same tone for the entire song, like the operating sound of a frigging vacuum cleaner. "HUH HUH HUH HUHHUH HUH HUHHUH! HUH HUHHUHHUH HUH HUH HUHHUH!" etc. It's awful. And this is the best music single for ages, is it? Shit, I'm going to hang myself.

Have you tried playing all of the Neon Genesis Evangelion renditions of "Fly Me to the Moon" one after another? Man, that gets annoying after a while.

I have a Creed song (Arms Wide Open) on my HDD, but I never listen to it. Their lead singer sounds like he's got acute asthma, which I find highly annoying.beyond hope wrote:Uhhhh... I listen to Creed, they've got some songs I like.
Actually, that reminds me: Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters did a spoof on Arms Wide Open. Funny as heck if you don't like Creed too much

Most evil song I know of:
"Ra Ra Rasputine" by Boney M. For some reason, this was a #1 song in Russia...despite the fact that IT CHANGES KEYS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRICKEN SONG!!
If the target knows ANYTHING about music, they will cringe at the change. even my Half-death father noticed it and cringed!
Find it on Kazaa or something...best bet, really.
and yes, it's THAT bad...

This guy's music is the worst...but at the same time funny as hell. This paranoid schizophrenic has such hits like:
Suck An Elephant's Piss Tube
Suck My Dog's Dick
Suck My Rottweiler's Ass
Suck My Doberman's Dick
Suck A Camel's Bootyhole
I shit you not, these are the actual titles and subjects of these songs.
And if you hate your job, I highly recommend the song "Fuck You".
You will piss your pants this stuff is so funny!

So you want bad music, eh?
I would suggest playing the version of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" or "Mr. Tambourine Man" by the musical stylings of William Shatner. If that doesn't do the trick play any cover song ever performed by Leonard Nimoy. Your roommate will go so completely out of control that he'll throw himself out the window!

Hehe... PeZook, I downloaded that song and felt like I needed to clean my ears out with steel wool afterwards. Thank you!
My own MP3 list would get me banned for an excessively long post, suffice it to say that I'm the RIAA's worst nightmare (you've got to love having a 100 gig hard drive, a CD burner and a cable modem.) Nine Inch Nails tops the list, I've prolly got something like 200 songs on here. It's closely followed up by Metallica, John Williams (all 5 of the Star Wars soundtracks,) and Sarah McLachlan... told ya I listen to diverse stuff.
I had to get more Lawrence Welk, too, my roomie actually screamed when I played "The Chicken Dance."

Truely bad "New age Jazz" take all of the emotion out of Jazz and turn it into an abonimation.
Actually the truly WORST music.
me+college buddies+too much Rum and Vodka+Kareoke+Disco=Worst music possible.

The scariest folk song lyrics are "My Boy Grew up to be just like me" from cats in the cradle by Harry Chapin

beyond hope: glad to be of help.
I'm sure I can find some more of this crap if you're interested.
However, I must be sure that I won't be held liable for any damage it may cause
EDIT: Believe it or not, it was actually an election tune for one of our political parties...

Okay, I'm too tired to look through ALL of this, but I will say this...find some Christian Death Metal! (I know that is pro;lly the funniest/most outrageous thing some of you guys have ever heard, but it does exist!). If anything, a Barry Manilow fan will not like that...if they do, throw on some Garth Brooks or some Nelly; that's all I gotta say!
PS: I don't like Barry, Nelly, OR Garth...just trying ot make a point.
PPS: Don't delve into classical...he might like it!

Re: Most Irritating Music?
If your roomie is a Barry Manilow fans, then I think a tune or two from Prodigy will drive him crazy (not that Prodigy is bad, though, cause they're actually one of my favorites. But I think "Firestarter" will make any BM fans commit instant suicide.).beyond hope wrote:I'm currently locked in a war of awful music with my roomie: it escalated yesterday, he was playing Barry Manilow and I was forced to download Lawrence Welk to maintain parity. I'm looking for a more terrible weapon of mass destruction to win the war with: anyone have any suggestions? What's the type of music or the specific artist who makes you want to put a few bullets through the stereo if you hear it played?
But if you're looking for a really ***HORRIBLE*** music...
then I suggest you to try "Mickey". And no, not the original Tony Basil version, but the horrible, BDZ-engineered ***LOLLY*** version.
Oh I can beat you all, First take Bangra, mildly anoying, but not so bad, but now add this, the flatt below you is playing it so loud it reaches your ears louder than the musicyou play normally in your room. Now it's starting to get noying, now add this starts at 4AM in the morning and goes on till about 8/9am REALLY anoying, this happened most days of the week in my old place.
But wait it gets worse, Dance/Trance/Whatever the hell it is, the same tune played from 1pm till 6pm NON FUCKING STOP. Yes I think I went a little insane that day...

Anything by Enya not on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. It'll make any man with a shred of masucline self respect try desperately to drive a pencil in to their brain to stop the pain.
Or better yet Aqua Barbie Girl. The shrill little trollop of a lead singer would make a manilow fan nuts. Strike now!

Music annoying to one person is another person's favorite genre.
You have to specifically tailor annoying music to each person.
That said, if someone isn't an anime fan, lots and lots of anime music and jpop can really set them off.
