I'm quite happy where I am right now, and that's the good ol' Yooo-ess of Aay. Yes, it isn't perfect, but I can't think of any other place on the planet I'd rather live at the moment.

You know, I shudder at the thought of Mexican food in Australia.
Not as much as the thought of Mexican food in Europe, but, still. :)
Tacos, authentic tacos, have little to no resemblance to the crunchy variety most people are familiar with.
Ask for a "burrito" in Tijuana, and they'll probably direct you to a donkey show. :D
Nachos are purely American.
Enchiladas aren't made with meat, unlike most restaurant varieties people are familiar with.

Fine then, I'm moving in at the local Mexican restaurant. :)

Canada would be nice, similar to New Zealand but with a higher population but then there's more land so the population density probably wouldn't be that much greater if at all...Infact apart from the accent I probably wouldn't even notice the difference.

An interesting experiment would be to take someone from Toronto, drug them, wait for them to fall asleep then ship them off to downtown Auckland and see if they notice the difference.

Germany. Second choice would be Canada (only reason it isn't first is that Europe has more character than Canada, plus Canada's winters are fucking harsh(er than German winters)).

We're either talking some pleasant tropical island, somewhere like Greece or France, or on a lower budget, Scotland or the Lake District.

Don't you live in the UK? Scotland doesn't count. Otherwise, I'd just say that I'd move to New York.

Scotland's a different country to England. They've got their own parliament and their own football team for one.

Indeed, but there's something about the scots accent and the west coast that appeals to me, and half of my extended family is spread across Scotland.

I was born in Australia. I live in Germany. Have been to many European countries, and the US. Many countries, many cultures.

There's only one country I will eventually settle down in: Australia, my home. :)

Yeah, well, I wish I didn't have to consider Texas a part of my country, but there's what we want, and there's what is.

And last I checked, the Union Jack still had Saint Andrew's blue background and white saltire.

*holds up hands*

Ok, ok, fine, you got me... I was ignoring the premise and thinking about where I'd want to live. The Lake District doesnt even qualify either, it being the next county along.

The first half of the original comment still stands though, although I might also include Hawaii or some other tropical volcanic location in that list as well.

Anyone want a hand?

This is the original post. Way I read it, "nation" and "native country" means real country, not 'culturally distinct area' or anything like that. Just because the Scottish might not consider themselves part of the same country as England (even though they have the same prime minister, the same Queen, the same military, etc.) doesn't make it so.

Maybe one of the resident historians will correct me and point out that in legalese, Scotland is a seperate country, but that will only convince me that the United Kingdom is even more fucked up than I could have previously imagined.

Hmm, well, thing is - if someone asked me what my native country was, I'd say England. If someone asked me what my nationality was, I'd say British, but that stems more from family blood than anything else - mum being Scottish and my father coming from Barnsley in Yorkshire.

Mind you, in terms of most major sporting events - Scotland is it's own nation. However, your point is accepted.

Yeah, sorry if I was coming off as really confrontational, I do understand the Scotland situation...it's just that sub-nationality tends to piss me off for some reason. I guess it just strikes me as unproductive.

You will be granted the nationality of the country you choose to move in automatically.
