Yes, I agree completely, but it wasn't in high school. I'd rather not tell the story.

Yea I had one of those girls.

She is dead now (car accident) so there is not much use for me to brood over that. But I will allways have good memories about her.

I've got one of those stories. Doesn't matter so much now, really. It's easy to look back twenty years and see the ones you could have had but ignored, and smack yourself on the forehead for it. It's as easy to look back and see the ones you chased like a puppy but never caught, and smack yourself on the forehead for it.

For all you teens, all I can say is: For fuck's sake, listen to the advice of people who are older and have been there, done that. If I had listened to my parents during my turbulent teens, I'd have been a hell of a lot better off then.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Not in highschool no, never really felt that way about anyone while in HS, my memories of something like this are much more, recent, so to speak.

Mere fantasies due to educational and probably parental pressure.

Got rubbed by one and HAD TO PLAY IDIOT TO IGNORE.

Went to school every day on the same bus and HAD TO DO NOTHING. (4!)

Met one from another school in an English summer camp/class, began to love her on the 4th day, missed her after the camp ended, but HAD TO FORGET HER BECAUSE SHE WAS FROM ANOTHER SCHOOL.

Well, life went on, I went to university, met no one until now (graduate school), broke up and not feeling too bad.

Sometimes wonder what could've happened if I thought "to hell with those restrictions" in those days, maybe I'll find out in a parellel universe some day :D

Lagmonster hits the nail right on the head. You get over things like that, never underestimate the human ability to bounce back. If i had wallowed in self pitty after the handfull of doomed relationships i would never have met my wife...and that would have really sucked!

Well, there's that one girl who was among the first females of my own age who understood me and accepted me as I am. As I learned to know her better, I became more and more smitten with her until I found out that she was dating someone else.

Regardless, she'll always have a special place in my heart. So will another girl who talked me out of my bad habit of apologizing at inappropiate moments. Even though she didn't repay my affection, it was not by parents nor my friends who got of rid of my "apology complex", but her. I respect her for that.

Ah. Memories of dear sweet Allie. My first love. My first pain. I still cannot forgive Aaron for what he did. Days gone by. Such a delightful girl, if a bit naive on occasion.

For my first couple years of highschool she was the only girl who'd talk to me and actually cared about me. She was a quiet girl but wow was she ever cute, blue eyes, black hair, and oh so cuddly. There were so many times I just wanted to ask her out or something but I never got the courage to do so and we just stayed as close friends. She's a year older than me and she went off to university and that was the end of things for a couple years, until I bumped into her again while I was biking around. Turns out she'd moved and was living just a couple blocks from me. We talk and visit each other on a semi-regular basis, she's not so quiet anymore and a lot more outgoing now, but she's still just as cute as ever.

As absurd and cliche as it sounds, I never really go over my first serious Girlfriend. We started dating freshman year High School and we did the whole lovey dovey thing and I discovered for the first time what it was like to love someone totally and without reservation. We dated for a little over a year and it was amazing.

The breakup however was ugly and we didn't speak for about three years, then around freshman/sophomore year of college she calls me out of the blue to get together as friends and we found out that we truly missed and enjoyed each other's company. She was smart, sarcastic and took no shit and had self esteem up the ying yang. Everything I look for in a woman. God knows what she sees in me.

Anyway she is now my best freind in the whole world and was there for me like no other during a recent crisis in my life. I'm pretty sure she has no idea how strongly I still feel about her, and if she ever said the word, I would drop whatever and whoever I was doing to be by her side. But I'm just like a big brother figure to her by now so I keep my feelings about her to myself. But yeah, she is most definately 'the one'.

There was this one girl back in High School that I was completely knocked out for. Beautiful is the one word to describe her. I even ended up getting her to go to the senior prom with me. But, things never really panned out. We still communicate now and then, and I still have that bit of a thing for her that crops up every so often.

But, I have moved past, and there have been other women since.

Sheesh. So now you got me thinking of the girl I had a crush on in high-school..... that just undid 5 years of therapy! (just kidding :) )

I saw her last year at our high school reunion; still looking good (even better than when I last saw her at university). Her university courses actually worked out and she's a geologist for a mining company.

She's a goddess. Blonde, funny, stunningly beautiful and i can talk to her, but no express how I feel. I figured I'd be over it by the end of summer, but she goes to community college with me and we have a class together. Poor hopeless me....

Well there was this really cute lifeguard guy I met in California and had a postcard relationship with for a few months. It's a good thing that one fell through since I found out from the postcards he sent that he was 22 and I was only 15 at the time. In hindsight it's a bit creepy but at the time...sigh....

Oh yeah, her name was Kerry. I'd first noticed her when i was 8. Serriously, some guys discover girls aren't icky from a young age. I managed to ask her out to a school disco when i was 9. I went as Rambo and apparently show polish on skin makes you break out in a rash. By the time i was 10 i had got her to go out with me. That summer was great. I learned how to french kiss and had my 1st hardon while doing that. It was eventually brought to an end at the recommencement of school. She moved to a different class from me and we lost touch. By the time we moved to high school she had become a different person. She threatened to have me shot, literaly, if i told any of the guys in my class i had dated her. Our song was In His Kiss by Cher.

I've also been in a similar situation to our former Assassin Author and am still recovering from that. But that's way to painful to talk about here.

My advice to anyone here who is having second thoughts about asking a person out is this. DO IT! one chance of slight embarassment is nothing compared to the happyness you can find if she or he turns out to be The One.

 Yeah, I think I had six or seven through high school. Three of 'em I knew I didn't have a chance with (snooty little...*ahem*). Out of the others, I still keep in touch with one. Nice girl, couple years younger than I am. About two inches shorter than me, cross-country runner (and if you know anything about what running does for the shape :D ), drummer, and speaks the same two languages I do (English and French). She's never had a boyfriend (parents are muyo cautious, wouldn't let her date before she turned 16), though she's heading off to a huge university, so I'm gonna be working hard this semester keeping up with classes and still trying to charm her before she falls for some drunken frat guy (not meaning to be insulting, but all the frat guys where I am seem to be major alcoholics).

Of course, there are some nice college people, too...one just graduated (two years older than me), and is going to the grad school I'm planning on attending. Same degrees, very fun to be around, about three inches smaller than me (vertically, probably closer to six horizontally around the waist  . I need to lose weight). She's a real "girl-next-door" type, but her smile's infectious. We're decent friends, but she was rather militantly anti-dating last year (boyfriend dumped her HARD).

Oh, I sure know that girl. First girl that I really loved. The thing that kills me is I'm still her friend and some times it burns me up to see her happy with another guy whose soon to be her husband.

I still have a tiny bit of a soft spot for my first love, but he did so many shitty things to me that I'm most definitely over him.
