Being scared of it isn't going to help, it isn't going to stop the lightning bolt from hitting you because you don't want it to or anything. Bleh, use common sense, but don't go overboard (OMG A SMALL SHOWER! QUICK, GET IN THE COMPLETELY INSULATED SHELTER, THERE MIGHT BE LIGHTNING! *gasp*)
Lightning doesn't scare me. When the sky's fucking pea green, I get scared. That's nature's tornado warning.

May have been a tropical storm I walked through. About two years ago? I remember it was my freshman year at college, which was '01.
And you pansies! Come down to Tampa, Lightning Capital of the World! We get huge black clouds in the sky, lightning crashing, nobody even ducks on campus. We only ran when the rain opened up.
Yeah, I'm just up I-4 a bit in Lakeland. We generally get the same stuff you get, just a bit less severe. Orlando's worse than Lakeland because it gets hit no matter which way the seabreezes blow. Between the hurricanes, the tornadoes, the floods, the sinkholes, and the muck fires, Florida can be a really uncomfortable place.

There are still wild fires burning from the storm Robert mentioned. I saw the smoke plumes today. I guess there were quite a few and not all have been brought under control yet.
