Alright, hands up: is anyone really surprised by this? Of course they'll throw a kid in jail for giving someone having an asthma attack a shot off of his inhaler. Stamping out all drug use (except alcohol and tobacco, of course--they get special exceptions for a very good reason that has absolutely nothing at all to do with their huge, powerful lobbies or the amount of tax income they generate for the states) no matter what the cost has been a national priority for decades. And so long as "getting tough on drugs" gets politicians elected, it will remain a national priority; statistics, costs, simple human decency be damned. If this kid goes to jail for being a good Samaratan, oh well. Can't have an omlette without breaking a few eggs, can we?

I think it was when a kid got suspended after pointing a chicken nugget at someone and shouting "Bang!". "Zero tolerance" really does mean "Zero intelligence". Except this time, someone was punished for helping someone. It's unfortunate that people have gotten so lazy they no longer want to deal with anything on a case-by-case basis, instead they create zero-tolerance rules that cast a very wide and not-so-fine net over everything.
