Yeah, I don't understand where the Matrix comparisons came into it either. It had *nothing* in common with the Matrix. That being said, the movie ownz.
The rest of you are entitled to your wrong (and in some cases baseless - you know, like not even watching the actual movie. ) opinions. :p
Though we are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
Yes, an amazing film--smartly written, excellently directed and some of the best performances in a sci fi film in a long while--Christian Bale was really terrific in this film, and Emma Watson was great as usual (great cameo by Sean Bean as well). The action scenes were well-staged but what made this film great was the characters--theres Matrix-style gun-kung fu, but above that the film is a character piece.
It really is a shame that this film wasnt given a wide release--i for one cant comprehend why. The film is low-budget but aside from some of the CG shots, its budgetary limitations never show and i cant see anyone being turned off a film like this because it wasnt a huge film.
Too bad that its been neglected to the straight-to-video bin. More films could take note of this films strengths.
