Well, I was thinking perhaps it would be Catholic, but I believe the Mongol general who was active in that area until his defeat by Muslim forces was more sympathetic to Nestorian Christianity, though in the span of 200 years a Catholic conversion could be possible.

Well, they would probably be intermixed anyway, with Catholics scattered toward Antioch and Nestorians farther east.

But they certainly wouldn't be Roman Catholic.

Right; though since Egypt is the descendent of a Crusader state, despite the existance of the Coptic Patriarch it would probably be Roman Catholic, although not all of its subjects might be.

Any other comments?

I'm a big alt hist fan. Of course, my addled mind can think of pretty ludicrous scenarios(Gemans[WW1]or Poles[Russo-Polish war] take Moscow, Kubulai Khan conquers Japan, American Indians domesticate Camelops, Turks nuke Austria, Brits capture Istanbul, Bush Sr. takes the Gulf War to Hussien, French subdue Vietnamese, Teutonic Knights crushed by the Poles and Lithuanians from the start, Russians take Constantinople, Thesodius is defeated, Crassus conquers Parthia, etc. ad invinitum), so by ramblings mostly get stares.
