If I could help shape the world as I saw fit, hells yes.

I'd go, except I couldn't bring Tev. And I wouldn't leave her.

No, I would not go. I do not want to leave my friends behind. If they went, I probably would follow since in many ways my closest friends are family to me.

But working for a single corporation far from gov't oversight means you will be a slave. Sure the pay is high, but you have to buy everything from the "company store" and it is bound to be sold at a premium.

This would be a much, much more attractive proposition if it wasn't for the "you're an employee, not a citizen" stipulation.

Actually, I might consider being part of the second wave of settlers to a world that's already halfway to being civilized, when they'll need teachers and writers rather than just engineers, farmers, and workers. A frontier society might be a good place to escape a lot of the bullshit going on down here on this old mudball.

Whats the Male/Female Ratio on this new planet?

I'd miss music, but I have other talents and skills I could put to use, and I love an adventure. So, if I have some loved ones to share in the experience, I'd do it.
Who says you'd have to leave all your musical talent behind? I mean, think about it; folks are going to need something to take their minds off of their work.

As for me, yeah, I'd go. I can handle a lot of work for a good portion of my day, adn seeing a new planet would be awesome. Of ourse, renegade aliens can be problematic, but that's what guns and sharp things are for.

In all truth, it is not likely I will be able to hold a job here since by nature I am a jack-of-all-trades and a tinkerer. Just the kind of person you want when setting up a colony, but not the kind of person you want on your payroll.

My job skills would allow me to run parts of the corporations. Which, needless to say, don't actually go anywhere. I'd be fine on Earth.

Starhopping has been my in brain since I was six. I daresay that if we find FTL, I'll be glued to my TV watching every development about it. The prospect of going to another world is simply something I can't realistically ignore.

Though maybe I'd be better as an asteroid miner. One month on the belt, one month on Earth.
