I used to have my fish fight other fish until the odds started to be too little to do any more. I didn't make enough to cover the risk.
 You had guys coming over to bet on fish fights! What a concept!

Hey, it wasn't to the death and I gave my fish special treats afterwards, okay. Also, it was up against fighting fish. It's not like I was totally cruel. They were fighting fish, what else was I supposed to do with it? I couldn't let it be known as the coward of the fighting fish world could I? Besides I was young.

...?

You put a gold fish in a tank and laughed as it's fins were bitten off?

What kind of twisted monster are you?!?!

No actually. My dad had some fish, guppies brought as food for a long dead Tuttle, but I no longer live with him and I hardly noticed the tank. Currently my only pet is a Guinea pig, and I've never had any fish of my own. I do like to eat fish though.

Sea Skimmer is in reference to naval arms.

It is a fun hobby and not expensive if you're willing to shop around for tanks, filters, and food.

I just want to be clear that I put my fighting fish only up against other fighting fish. I would not be so cruel as to put in with a goldfish and laugh as it ripped it apart. And don't worry I outgrew betting on fish fights long ago.

*Fish in a Barrel

As in shooting
Hehe, have you ever actually done that? Shooting em is much easier than catching them with a reel. My dad and I once went out into the country, and took a .22 rifle and fishing rods. After we shot some cans, I went out on the dock and fished, none were biting, but I could see em swimming around, I went and got the gun, hehehe.

The fact that you put any long-finned fish in with a convict cichlid, let alone a cold-water fish, shows your fishkeeping negligence. For shame!

I was never really a cichlid guy myself.

 This happened when I first started. I pulled the goldfish right out of there before any real damage could be done.

So what do you find attractive about cichlids? I have never become a 'cichlidiot' or even tried keeping cichlids.

No, he lives in his own tank. Hell they kill each other, usually only when they are young though. You have to feed them with tweezers or they try to bit you hands. He's currently staring at me throught the glass in a predatory manner. Occasionally I put starwars figures outside the tank and he bites at the glass

They don't seem to sell them, I got him from a biology lab.

Finding another might be difficult.

Actually you can buy them, although you will probably have to order them specially and make sure the local aquatics store is fine with it.

It's a fun hobby. I like cichlids when they're small--my first tank had mixed African cichlids (golds, electric blues, purples) and they were beautiful fish but they were super aggresive. I wouldn't recommend Convict cichlids because they breed like jackrabbits.
