That would make sense, wouldn't it?

But isn't that like, y'know, censorship or something? Are they allowed to do that?
Yes, it IS Censorship and IMO Criminal.

No black bars when I saw it: I use COX Cable...
Same here, and I'm on Direct TV.

EDIT: here's why this is happening...

*yawn* Sitting here at home, watching MTV2, and I see the message. Interesting.

*shrugs* Doesn't affect me at all though.

Update:
As a Dish Network subscriber I no longer have Comedy Central, or any of the MTV channels. Comedy Central being the only real loss.
Viacom raised their rate to satelite providers 40% being the reason. I get an entire dollar of the bill for the inconveniance, too.
Eat shit and die, Viacom. :x

Or something like that.

Convert to cable! More channels, better reception, and they won't drop your favorite channels.

Spike has really been advertising the shit out of this on their channel. Every damn commercial break has atleast one or two adverts.

If anyone is really curious about it, I'll capture it.

btw, Viacom = teh suck anyhow.

I will NEVER go back to cable.
Cable has no program guide.
Cable has no favorites list function.
Cable has no search function.
Even without Viacom channels, I still get dozens of channels that aren't even available with cable.
Reception is outstanding.
Customer service is ALWAYS there.
There are no cable providers that serve my area, not that I'd ever go back, anyway.

Mine does. :)
Frank Hipper wrote:Cable has no search function.
Um...maybe. Never even tried... *shrug*

Are they all on the "basic package" or paid extra? I know I could get more if I shelled out the dough...
Frank Hipper wrote:Reception is outstanding.
Really? I used sat up at my cousin's...damned thing was pretty annoying. It lost signal, the program guide was shit...but maybe it got better in the last couple years.

As for me, my digital cable rocks, and only occasionally do I get pixelated madness.
Frank Hipper wrote:Customer service is ALWAYS there.
I guess that would vary on individual companies versus cable vs sat as a whole.

Got a lot of choice then, don'cha? :D

Rogue, you must've not aimed the dish properly because I've got between 95 - 99% signal strength all the time on a good day, and down in the 80's on a really cloudy/stormy day. Only when it rains REALLY bad do I ever start seeing pixels and loose signal. I've got one of those small 18" round Direct TV dishes so that may have more to do with the higher quality signal reception.

Huh? Time warner Digital cable has all of that Hipper, plus even has good reception on rainy days.

But damn, where do you live? I thought Time warner covers most of the country by now.

ah, so Viacom was the bad guys, not Dish Network. I now hate Viacom and love Dish Network for protecting me from outside influences.

Meh, they're both a bunch of hypocritical hatfucking sons of bitches then. Guess I won't be watching much TV from now on (as if I do now: all I'm interested in is the weather, the news, and whatever sci/tech/military stuff's on the History channel.)

I'm sure of it...

Fucking scum. ALL HAIL COX CABLE! Bonus: They're the best ISP I've ever used too :)
You only like it because of the name.

Comedy Central has actually started running an ad saying that they will soon only be available on cable and directv because dishnetwork is being a bitch.
They even got Jon Stewart in on it. So it looks like viacom's trying to get around the censorship.
