That said.. what's so appealing about B5? I've never seen the show..
Mostly because for four seasons it had an interconnected story that was decent.

Why did I say four and not five?

Because five was rushed and blah...many other express this with more vitrol.

Compare to many things we have now it was damn near supreme in terms of writing.
Wasn'T the reason they rushed the fourth season that they feared they wouldn't be getting a fifth, and JMS wanted to finish the story arc?

It'S one of the few series which actually manage to have a story arc running for several seasons, with high details and intertwinded events.
In short: Taking the viewer as an intelligent person.

Yes one of the reasons I like B5 a lot, it was intellegently executed and had continuity and didn't rely on Deus Ex Machina to get them out of EVERY situation.

However I never really identified with any group in the series. (although the Narns did seem to be very scrappy) Hmm wonder what Psi-Corps would do with Melange....

the series was also character driven, as opposed to alot of the episodes in say, star trek, which were driven by some device malfunction or unknown phenomenon just newly discovered.

Yeah it and SG-1 are like the last TV shows to treat the viewer with a modicum of respect.

Actually Mentats aren't a breeding thing, it's a training thing. They are simply trained since birth to be excellent analysts, and then given lots of drugs to make them human computers.

however the bene gesserit's selective breeding programs are eventually what led to Paul's birth and abilities as the muad'dib. so breeding can play some part.

Great the Narns would be convince the the Bene-Gesserits to create a new Narn Messia. Boy those Centarai and the Drahk are fucked...) worse yet, they get Navigators who can open warpgates psionically...

here's a name idea that's fairly simple: The Rangers. as in the group of minbari/human soldiers that were trained and created to fight against the Shadows and warn of their coming. 8)

I don't want B5 threads abducted from this forum because there's a special usergroup...

Yup, it should have ended with a cliffhanger at Intersections in Real Time.

Evil! Evil! Evil!

I can see that the fifth season could have been done better, but it had some strengths as well. The way they wound things down really reminds me of LotR.

Yeah, I think I'll join. B5 was really great in a lot of ways, and Omegas just plain look cool.
