The other fun one is things that are classified just because the way they were obtained is classified.

Seriously, I think the two best ones are "For Official Use Only" and "Need to Know". Those two cut things down to size before you even get to what kind of security clearance someone has.

What is For Offical use only? I've seen it used in so many ways and show to so many unclear people I'm not even sure if it means anything at all

Does anyone know the entire scale? I know it goes something like this:

Top Secret
Restricted
Classified
etc.

What's the whole thing?

Erm.... I think that Classified is more secret than Restricted, not vice versa.

And isn't there some rating covering that which is more than Top Secret?

isn't a Black rating when something isn't even officially acknowledged as existing? which i think is a bit higher than Top Secret? such as the development of stealth bomber technology before it was ready to be shown to the public, the first nuclear weapons tests, etc.?

Its

FOU(For Offical Use only, the cause we feel like it classification)
Confedential
Secret
Top Secret
And as the big old honking unclassified binder tells me that reveling any classified information is a felony crime though reavling the list of ships stores a normaly lowly confedential crime can still land you twenty years but sending something thats Secret or TS saay like on 2001 Septemeber 12th so bright fellow emailed his mother the ships movement scedual for the next two weeks so she would not be worried about him, givin that was the scedual for a CVN in the middle of a battlegroup that was a BAD twenty years to life thing to do

Oh, I see Mr. Bean already answered that. Also, it was mentioned in the pilot of Stargate: SG-1. 8)

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

It's all over our ship's POD.

Yep, that means you aren't supposed to be letting just anyone read those things. So, when disposing of the last 6 months worth of the things you either have to shred them or burn them. The incinerator is much more fun.

I also think there is another classification for stuff related to nuclear power. I think it's essentially the same as Confidential but with a bit more crap tacked onto the cover. :)

You know that friend John I wrote about on page 1? I was talking to him on the phone tonight, and I mentioned the fact that the NSA was hiring, and he told me I should consider applying to be a cryptanalyst, since apparently they love getting musicians for that kind of work, since we have a different way of looking at things than most people. That's what he said, anyway.

Interesting thought. I think I might apply just to see what happens and what they'd have to offer.
