Futurama - it has the watchability and replayability in plots etc which means that even after the jokes are familiar, you can still enjoy watching the episodes - Family Guy doesnt do that so much for me, but it's still good stuff.

Both are great, but I prefer Futurama for its more character-based humor. Plus, what other show would do a joke about the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle?

ANy baby that can turn the "diverse" foster children of a family against one another based soley on their national heritiage... and refer to the killing of Roman Polanski's wife... I am sorry, but stewie makes family guy a better show.

Family Guy. Stewie shits all over any character that Futurama has, though they're both good shows.

Family Guy rocks, but where else can you find such inspired television as "Where no Fan has gone Before" and "The Luck of the Fryish"? Family Guy is probably the more quoteable show with great writing all around, but Futurama has a more human side to it which tends to give it a better lasting impact.

Let me put it this way, when I'm intoxicated I prefer Family Guy, when I'm sober I like Futurama. :P

Maybe I'm weird, but I even think that Futurama has a better cast of characters. Stewie and Brian are phenomenal characters, but compare those to Fry and Bender. I think that even if there's a slight edge for Family Guy in those two, there's no way that Meg and Peter and Lois are better characters than Zoidberg, the Professor, and Hermes Conrad. The discrepency gets even greater from there: Peter's gay boss can't even begin to compete with recurring Futurama characters like Zap Brannigan, etc. etc. etc.

I never did like Family Guy. Still don't. Saw an episode of it a few weeks ago and was reminded that I STILL do not like Family Guy.

Futurama, OTOH, is always entertaining. I agree with previous poster that the one where Bender has a little civilization living on him was arguably one of the best pieces of animation both in creativity and content that I have ever seen. Futurama is always watchable. Family guy has a fat idiot and a talking baby who likes to kill people. The father's voice even gets on my nerves.

Plus Bender pwnz.

Family Guy. The best thing ever was Stewie doing his impression of William Shatner singing Rocketman.

The best Stewie line is when he wins the fantasy fight with the guy on top of the train. "Now, give me the other half of the amulet. I don't think you'll be making it to Marakesh."

Family Guy has GREAT fight scenes, too. I especially loved Peter's fight with man in the chicken suit.

I should elaborate, when Family Guy can deliver episodes like "Luck of the Fryish", the one were we meet Fry's dog, and "Fry's Holophoner Opera", I'll vote for Family Guy. MoO is absolutely right on that regard.

Futurama. For some weird reason whenever i tried watching an episode of Family Guy i was just. . .bored to tears. I couldn't get into it. Futurama on the other hand has the type of humor and stories i like. parodies galore. Plus the cast of characters is, imo so much better.

Futurama also has better internal consistancy. Events in previous episodes get reffered to and effect later episodes.

SPOILERS

There's an episode where fry is having a flashback about being frozen. When he's looking in the trashcan there's an eyeball on a stalk there that he doesn't notice. It's revealed in a later episode where he travels back in time to prevent himself from being frozen that nibbler was actually there and responsible for him falling into the cryo-chamber.

It's little consistancies like that that make a series interesting. To me at least anyway.

Family Guy is freakin' hilarious. As much as I love Futurama, I have to roll with FG.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Family Guy by far. How can you not like an evil baby with a British accent who is hellbent on taking over the world?

Family guy is definitely better the better show.

Exhibit 1

Indian Kid: Stewie, would you like to learn how to wrap a turban?

Stewie: Why don't you teach it to the Chinese girl. Or better yet, wait 'til her people invade your country.

Indian Kid: *GASP*. Lee, would your people really do this?

Stewie: Well who would stop them, and try stopping Pablo's people from using drug money to buy arms from Lee's countrymen, who will in turn sell them to Yuri's people so that they can ethnically cleanse the rest of this nauseatingly diverse grab-bag of genetic party-favors you call a family. So now you understand, yes? You all hate each other.
Exhibit 2

Lee:Stewie, come complete our rainbow.

Stewie: I have a better idea, let's go play 'swallow the stuff under the sink'.
Exhibit 3

Under the belief that they're off the air

Tom: I 'm the lord Jesus Christ! Think I'll get drunk and beat up some midgets! What about you, Dianne?

Dianne: Well Tom, I just plain don't like black people

(both laugh)

Camera man: Err, we're still on in Boston

(Tom and Dianne stare at the camera with a "how deep a hole did I just dig for myself?" kind of look on their face)
Exhibit 4

TV Commercial
Doctor: Mrs. Lipstein I'm afraid I have some bad news, the tumor is malignant. I'm afraid you only have 6 months to live.

Mrs. Lipstein: Oh My God!

(pause)

Narrator: Got Milk?

When Family Guy's hot, its hot but when its off it can really suck. Even a bad episode of Futurama tends to be middle of the road on the funny scale.

Besides, Family Guy is nothing with out Stewie while there are numerous characters in Futurama that are priceless.

Zoidburg is my all time favorite on Futurama.

When he fertilized the eggs at Amy's parents ranch on Mars.

When they went back in time to Rosewell and the Goverment was using exploritory surgery on him to figure out what the hell he was and they documented one egg in his stomach then still on the table, Zoidburg eats the egg and the Doctor pulls out 'the same egg' again.

However, I must say that I have loved Futurama ever since the very first episode when Bender shit a brick.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red
