Playing Undying the other day, I flick-turned and suddenly had a skeletons face filling my monitor and screeeeeeaming at me. Both me and my friend who was watching me play cleared 1 foot above our seats. The skeleton then thwacked me with a staff and ate my heart.
Hmm I got that game! I hate those Undead Saints too. Otherwise lovely game especially when you get Skull Storm!

Apocalypse rules. Real-time squad is the best. Turn-based is boring and unrealistic.

And yes, I do have a copy...

PC Gamer released a CD with X-com on it too. Ive got that one.

Did anyone ever use the High Explosive in X-Com UFO Defense? I think I tried it once and never used it again.

I played X-Com again this summer and I made use of the proximity grenades, mostly against Sectoids and the big orange furry guys. I never used them when the game initially came out.

I've used it. And lost half a squad.

Of course I did. Until you get alien grenades, it's the only "grenade" to use :)

And it workds nicely in penetrating alien hulls, too.

Not exactly - you need a blaster bomb to penetrate them. Basically any attack which does 200+ pts of damage can break through them.

For explosive attacks, spread damage fades off at 10pts per square fromt he epicenter. So a 255 point blast would wipe out 11 squares of alien starship hull.
Believe in the sign of Hentai.

Ive toasted my whole squad inside the SkyRanger with a poorly plotted Blaster Bomber.

it can be SLIGHTLY inaccurate.

Which can mean sending a squad back home in matchboxes if the blaster bomb clips a wall near them.

An Alien Grenade will also blast a hole. And I have managed to penetrate with a plasma canon once or twice. Basically, you need VERY high explosives to destroy the alien alloy. That's much stronger than anything we use to build our spacecraft now.

I remember that in XCom it was a pain downing an UFO then trying to recover something out of it... the thing was so badly damaged that hardly anything survived, specially NOT the engine with the elerium.

Until I discovered that all it takes is ONE (1) shot of your weakest weapon to force an UFO to land. Too bad this didn't work in TFTD :(
