The real friends, the ones who will stick with you forever, are made IN college. They are the ones who will be there always.

That's what the teacher said, and he's a good teacher at that.

Hence, I say that the friends you'll be staying with your senior year...you probably won't see after that. Why stay with your dad to be with your friends for just one more year, when you probably won't see them again after that?

As my teacher said, the real friends are all made in college. I respect your decision--just wanted to get my opinion out.
Hell yes. Friends in school are friends of neccessity and you don't realise that until you leave. In Uni you choose your friends based on who you want to be with... Real friends are from Uni. *looks at Zaia and Ewo* Also from ASVS and SD.net....

I was just being curious. He doesn't have a good reason anyway, just wants to feel cool or something.

I think in a lot of cases that is true, but the truest and best friends I have to this day are friends of mine from high school (save the kindred spirits I found in Tassie, who are an anomaly in so many ways  Love you, Ando!). None of them went to college with me, and I still talk to and hang out with all of them on a regular basis.

Katy, the best friend I have out in Utah, Bryan, the guy I have a thread about right now, Brandon, Becki, Shawn, Kevin, Mandi, Melissa, Kristen, Matthew--these are all friends I see very often who I became close with in high school (a couple of them in middle school, actually). We go on holiday trips together, random road trips, concerts, plays, parties, hang out a few times a month--some of them I talk to practically on a daily basis. As Bridget Jones would say, they are my 'urban family.' :D

So, although it isn't the norm, some people have more high school friends than college friends. I think you are making the right choice.

Ah, divorce is hard on kids. Thankfully, I never had to suffer the separation of my parents. Unfortunately, I was also in the minority...

What is the divorce rate, actually? I'm not talking about the percentage of marriages that end in divorce; I'm talking about the percentage of PEOPLE who go through a divorce. The numbers are not necessarily the same; if divorcees have a higher rate of subsequent divorces (ie- they're serial divorcees, and end up having 3 or more spouses), a minority of the population could conceivably produce what appears to be a majority of marriages failing.

I think its commonly stated that 50% of marriage fail. I dont think they differentiate wether or not the divorce takes place in a first marriage or second. I see your point, we could have a small group of 3-4 marriages type who screw the numbers.

However, personally experience with friends, family, and people around me, does seem to show that about half the familys are broken up. Anecdotal I know.
