Mmm, I love snow too. Not only does it look lovely, but there's something about the way the air smells right before it starts to snow that makes me think of Christmas and lights and hot chocolate and people being nice to each other and fires in fireplaces and cuddling with loved ones. Mmmmm. :D Yay.

Hmm, I wonder if I sound a bit crazy. Ah, well. It an association thing, I suppose. *shrug* Whatev.

And Merry Kristinmas to you too, Spanky. *kisses cheek*

Damn, thats a lot of celebrations and gifts I get.

I feel it is such a hollow holiday... anyway the best signs of the coming of Christmas is the ridiculous amounts of Christmas advertisements on TV, huge posters on the big chain stores offering Christmas discounts.

Oh and watching that fat guy wearing so many winter garments in the middle of the summer. Same for hot chocolate.

Travel and hotel prices are being jacked up, folks are lighting up their houses like the fourth of July, shopping for Christmas gifts is clogging shopping centers, my favorite jazz station is playing Christmas tunes every once in a while, and some folks are sticking wreaths on the grills of their vehicles.

Around Thanksgiving, they start calling to me....15,000 of them....whispering to me from the attic....C-7s, C-9s, minis, jewel lights, pearl lights, indoor, outdoor, indoor/outdoor, net lights, icicle lights, clear, multi, 1 color, 2 color, 3 color, flashing, chasing, dancing, slow-fade, fast-fade, 8-mode programmable, 16-mode programmable.....I do so love Christmas lights. Last year, the tree (6 feet) had 8 or 9 strands on it...2 strands of C-9 (25 lights) bulbs (orange and white) around the center post (aritifical tree) inside the branches, 2 strands of colored C-7s (25 lights) pushed back into the branches along with a strand of clear C-7s (50 lights) and a strand of clear minis with C-6 sized multifaceted outer casings. On the outer branches, I strung 2 strands (100 lights) each of steady-burning clear and multicolored bulbs. On top of them went 2 strands (140 lights) of programmable chasing lights, 1 clear, 1 colored, and a final layer of blue pearl lights (75 lights). Oh, and the star on top of the tree had 15 lights. So it actually worked out to 12 strands and 870 individual lights, total.

To make a long story short, I know it's Christmas when I start getting a strange, twitchy urge to waste electricity by designing a Christmas tree visible from the Space Shuttle. Don't ask me how. I think it might be instinct.

LOL :D Sweeeet. I especially like the bit about the Space Shuttle. Will your life be complete if you get a late Christmas card from NASA complimenting your decorating skills?

Btw, rock on that you're in Jersey; I was born & raised there. :D

1. Your name is Kristin?
2. Care to explain about "celebration of me"? I've you've done so, sorry for wasting time.

This was posted on the first page of the thread:

Years ago, I kept asking people what Boxing Day was for, and no one could tell me, so I decided I'd make my own holiday, and my friends and family have been celebrating it ever since! :D
Pretty self-explanatory. I was a punk kid and wanted a day where people would tell me how nice I was, so I made my own holiday. My friends and family have been 'celebrating' for 8 years now. Pretty soon, I'll be on calendars WORLD-WIDE!!!! :D *chuckle* Ya know, or not.
I make Chocolate chip cookies. :D Good ones, too. (or so I'm told)
Hey! Me too! :D

My life will not be complete until outdoor Christmas display is large and powerful enough to fool a 747 pilot into landing on my steet, at which point I will scale it back. However, a nice card from NASA would be appreciated. As it is, we get a very sweet, if late, one from the electric company every January.

And congratulations on getting out of Jersey. My location isn't completely accurate right now, as I'm going to school in Pennsylvania, but it's still legally my residence.

My pleasure. :D

In my world, there is a HUUUUGE difference between cooking and baking. I am a fantastic baker, which makes me the most popular person among my friends & family around this time of year, all begging for me to make their favourite type of cookie.

And people have offered to pay me mucho dinero for my chocolate chip cookies; they are that good. :D :D :D

However, my cooking skills are somewhat lacking. I'm really great at spaghetti and other pasta dishes, and I make a mean tuna-melt, but other than like three other dishes, that's about all I can do. *shrug* It's really a pity, since cooking is a hell of a lot more practical.

Ah, well. I'll just have to find myself a man who cooks well...ooh, and maybe does laundry too...and cleaning! Yes..yes...*rubs hands together* Excellent idea, self.

My skills line up the same way. My baking is good, but my cooking tends to be a bit...explosive.

The first (and probably biggest) sign of Christmas is the Thanksgiving Day parade in NYC.

Nor will I.
My Christmas presents will be 400 push-ups from my drill instructor and 50 rounds around the parade square by my sergeant.
