Oh, totally. I absolutely loved the way Indy acted around his dad. Like when Indy busts into the castle to save his dad and end up shooting a bunch of Nazis; when they leave the room, Sean Connery looks over the room and in a very appalled voice says something like, "Junior! Look what you did!" and Indy has to yank him away from staring at all the bodies in horror! Ahhh, good times. Doesn't hurt that the two of them are ultra-yummy either.IG-88E wrote:Third Indiana Jones was the best, easily.

Yeah, but some of the great ones like the Terminator movies, the Indiana Jones movies, and Lethal Weapon do both. They create fun, engaging characters and are emotional along with great action.Evil Sadistic Bastard wrote:Uhhh... they are action movies... they may have the brains of a fundie but all they're meant to do is deliver the action that maxes out your blood adrenaline for six hours after that...Stormbringer wrote:Sweet action but no soul to them. None of the character or attachment you get with T2 or other great action movies.Evil Sadistic Bastard wrote: Speaking of Hong Kong... How about the Lethal Weapon and Rush Hour series?
And anything with Jackie Chan in it...

What about when Indy beats on the Nazis, then turns to his dad and says, face serious:
"DON'T call me junior."
Or when he throws the guy out of the blimp and says "NO TICKET!"

Which 24 minutes is it missing?neoolong wrote:The Professional is the American release. It is missing 24 minutes. Leon is the International release and a better movie.Zaia wrote:And Neoolong, I thought 'Leon' and 'The Professional' were two different names for the same movie? It is missing the Mathilda training scenes. A scene where Mathilda plays Russian Roulette. A scene where Leon talks a bit of how he got to America. And some others.
Note: Besson did the cuts himself. He wanted about 4 minutes gone, but the rest of it should have been in the movie still.

It gives a scene by scene of the missing scenes.

My vote for the best goes to "Raiders of the Lost Ark", the first, and the best, of the Indiana Jones movies.
It's got one of those rare characters who becomes a pop culture icon, the perfect actor for the part, action aplenty, exotic locales, nostalgia for a bygone era, villians we all love to hate, a great musical score, and the hero is not some invincible superhero, but a believable (well, almost) human being who bleeds, gets hurt, gets beaten up, gets shot, and really looks like he could actually lose, yet still wins in the end, and who has style!
What more could anyone want in an action film?

Not much more. But I say Terminator would beat it. I liked the contrast between bad-ass and emotion the film managed to portray. Termy wasn't invincible either - he got his ass handed to him so badly I actually started rooting for him near the end (I always support the villains because most of the time they suffer a lot more than the heroes, who have the benefit of character shielding and plot devices to save them)Perinquus wrote:My vote for the best goes to "Raiders of the Lost Ark", the first, and the best, of the Indiana Jones movies.
