I must add that as well as being ridiculously worried about those jumping sharks I really, really hate the idea of a small boat in DEEP DEEP water...where anything could be lurking beneth the surface...and its a long lonog way down to the bottem...

I'm afraid of not finding someone who loves me for who I am, with whom I can spend the rest of my life. I'm afraid of living alone and always wondering what it would feel like to come home at night to someone waiting for me to eat dinner with, to watch bad TV with, and to curl up in bed with every night.

I guess afraid isn't really even the word for it; I'm not really afraid of much. I guess it's more accurate to say that thought saddens me. :(

Hmm, I guess in short I'm afraid that all guys are like Ando. Scared of relationships and commitment. :D
On the flip side, I am afraid that one day I will wake up and realize that I don't want to be with the person next to me but I am stuck. I fear commitment with extreme terror. That and I am afraid that one day my nightmare will come true, the one about having a pool party, with all the presents floating in the pool, and I open one... but its a dead dog! and I start opening all of them and they are all dead dogs!!
oh, and what scares me the most is life and death. It scares me to think that someone could just not exist anymore, that my thoughts would suddenly stop and it would be no more. But it also scares me to think I will live for eternity. Wouldn't it be boring? Aren't we always working towards something? What would you be waiting for if you had eternity??

I fear that my life is not really what I perceive it to be. That all is a figment of my psychotic imagination induced by psychotropic drugs and that I am really in a state psychiatric facility hallucinating this whole existence while my frail body writhes bound in a straight-jacket and gibberish spews from my drooling mouth.

Good categorization, since men can be ultra-sexy when they're bald. :D
Some of us have the tendency to be tall, thin-waisted men with broad shoulders and no hair on our heads.

This isn't completely a bad thing, except that we are also *white*. And if history teaches us anything, it's that black men with shaven heads look COOL, like Michael Jordan, whereas white men with shaven heads look like giant thumbs.

Actually, noting all the comments about fear of water and ocean-dwelling thingies...

Let me tell you all that I was much the same way. Hated swimming anywhere where something - especially seaweed - would touch me. Creep out.

But all it takes is ONE TIME where you have to beat the FUCK a four-foot toothy fish of some sort because it's taken a fancy to you as lunch, to shake every fear you ever had about that kind of thing.

Face your fears. Punch a shark.

Stupid fears...that having no hair diminishes a man's sexual appeal.

I don't trust any man with a full head of hair.
Furthermore, I am of the opinion that male-patterned baldness is related to high testosterone levels and high testosterone levels are directly related to increased virility, ergo, bald men are hot.

Paralysis. I know that's a legitimate fear rather than a foolish one. But seriously, I rather die this instant than face the rest of my life like Christopher Reeve. Poor man.

There was a story in the paper here a few years back about a man who dove of a pier at high tide and broke his neck on piling that was just beneath the surface. He ended up a quadruplegic, but the interesting thing is that it was almost three minutes before he was pulled from the water. He told the interviewer that he already realized his neck was broken and he was paralyzed, but was sure he would be rescued if he could just hold his breath long enough.

Fuck! That!

I'd have taken a big old gulp and shuffled off this mortal coil. Maybe I should admire this guy for his ability to make the best of life, but I honestly would rather die than spend my life as a head.

Zaia: I've got a fear like that myself. The thought of not having a family of my own in the future scares the hell out of me. I'm only 23, but then I think of it like "I'm 23 already!" and consider that guys I graduated with or ahead of are already getting married and having kids...

I'm a bit older than 23 and can remember the same fears...Now I know better: most of those people that I thought were so far ahead of me are now ahead in terms of divorce, child support, not seeing their kids etc. 'cause they were idiots and didn't take the time to marry the RIGHT person. Just 'cause someone tolerates your presence early on doesn't mean you should marry them...

It was a bitch at the time, but I was glad that I didn't have to grow up and deal with stuff like mortgage payments, college funds for young ones etc. while I was in my 20's...

Back to the topic: I'm also scared of bees/wasps and little birds flying too close to my face and pecking my eyes out with their beaks...

And following Marla and Zala's bald-men opinions, barber shops everywhere declare record highs and then go out of business.

And I'll tells ya this: All the sexiness in the world ain't gonna make up for the feeling of a -20 degree Canadian wind whipping across the top of your naked skull.

What do I fear? First, it's strangers. Ever since I was robbed for the first time, I view everyone around me on the street as hostile. I feel like everyone dreams of nothing but doing something bad to me. As I walk down the street, I'm constantly searching for a place to run for if anything happens. It will go away with time, I guess, and if someone WILL want to rob me again, they will do this despite all my newly acquired paranoia if they want to. So my fear is irrational as hell :)

Plus, there is the usual stuff. Bees, wasps, etc., but not because of stings. I just hate when something buzzing loudly flies close to my face, or worse, tries to get into my ear or nose (a fly got inside one of my nostrils once when I was a kid...I got scared shitless, especially since I was fresh after watching "The Wrath Of Khan", and remembered those brain-sucking leeches)

Next, just as wicked pilot - when I have to do something I'm not familiar with, I freak out. My hands start shaking, I start thinking about what can go wrong (usually in the most incredible ways, that is)...as the importance of what I have to do rises, so do the symptoms. I can take 10 minutes just filling out a simple form from fear of making a mistake that will haunt me...like, when I filled a transfer note in order to pay my university entry fee, I got the last few digits of the university's account number wrong...for the next three weeks, I lived in mortal fear of what could happen...until my father, somewhat more familiar with such issues, explained to me that the digits I got wrong were in the number of the sub-account, so the money got to university, they just needed to put them in the right sub-account...so it is with every new thing, from bureaucracy dealings to phone calls to customers.
Sometimes I think I'm just afraid to royally screw things up. Probably the same case why I always feel like shit after NOT getting the highest score on one test or another...

Damn, I just turned out three lengthy paragraphs about my hidden fears, adressed to people I hardly know...I think I gonna go to sleep now, before I give you info on my sexual preferences and masturbatory fantasies ;)

Have always hated large, imposing-looking shower heads or those shower stalls with multiple shower heads. Likely, I got sprayed in the face by scalding water while looking up at a shower head as an infant. Also hate spiders.

Haha I'll never know :) I have no desire to watch a bunch of movies to track down the source of that fear. I appreciate the tips, but I have several 'brain bugs' about water: deep water, murky water, weeds in water (yes, they are alive!!) etc. I love swimming, but prefer nice clean, clear, pool water with no hydras, killer squids, etc.

That brain bug has gotten pretty sleepy over the years, and I'm sure the hell not going to wake it up!

I don't have any of those phobias... I love swimming in rivers and lakes. No chlorine to burn my nose to hell. The weeds, fishies, and monsters are fun!
I hate that "underwater glass" shit that (more than) one movie did tho.

I'm over most of those phobias, and hell if I'm gonna let a brain bug keep me from swimming at the lake over the summer, but sometimes the old fears can still creep up on me.

I was snorkling once in the ocean, having a blast. A school of fish was hanging out with me, swimming all around me, it was so cool. But then, all of a sudden, they all just swam away. Scared the crap out of me. My stomach did a flip flop, and for a half second or so, I really was expecting a giant squid or something to come up and wrap me up as an appetizer. I figured that they knew something I didn't and took off for a good reason.

It's so weird how you can 'be over' something, but one little weird event can bring it all back again. Bizarre.

I have a fear that there is a worldwide conspiracy conspiring to cancel all of the tv shows that I like.

Speaking of which, Dwecifer, I see you watched tonight's Firefly. :D

Yeah, I love Firefly. I'm so mad it got cancelled

There's always some great lines in that show. My fave from last week:

Cap'n: How do you feel?
Doc: I've never shot a man before.
Sheppard: Well son, I was there, and you've never shot a man yet.

I had a enormous fear of spiders, i mean really bad. During haloween i would go to bed for a week to avoid contact even with rubber spiders. Then this year i went and watched 8-Legged Freaks. If the sight of hugs fucking jumping bastard spiders wouldn't cure me nothing would. I sat through iut all but outside the movie i freaked and ended up spending £50 on booze in the bar downstairs.

My other huge fear is being alone. I hate being alone.

Spiders. Spiders touching me.

Spiral staircases. Especially ones in old castles where the centres have been erded and polished by so many tourists that they are just like going down helter skelters.

I used to be agoraphobic, especially in the dark, but this was just a symptom of PTSD, and I'm over it now.
