You really can't complain about favorable officiating at all in this match, sorry.
Tell that to Schweinsteiger and the new nostril he has under his eye.

Yeah, that's never a card, especially if you haven't already given Schweinsteiger a double yellow for all of his dirty tackles and Howedes a straight red. Germany was the better team and the officiating was fair in trying to not influence the game one way or the other.

End of an era. The Brazil team demolished, the Americas yield to a European champion on American soil. Amazing.

Messi best player of the World Cup? No offence but he wasn't even the best Argentina player, in my opinion that was Romero.

Not a big follower of the World Cup, but Germany deserved that one. Good on them.

This has been perhaps the best World Cup I've ever watched. Germany had a well earned victory, Brazil learned a lesson in humility, and Australia lost by less than it usually does. Arguably, the real winner was football.

So, what's the ongoing effect on Brazil? They've just spent a fortune on stadiums and such, so when will that be recouped?

What's the betting (um bad pun there) that the kid's family didn't have that much savings in the first place given his dad is a problem gambler.

But congrats to the Germans.

In regards to the ongoing effect, I would say that it would depend on two factors

1. Success of the games
2. Financial costs.

Arguably one is more important and that depends on how you measure success. If we use the Beijing Olympics as an example, the success was in showcasing to the world what China could do in terms of organising the games, and not so much in how many medals they won. So despite the criticisms of how money could have been better spent (it did turn a profit) it did succeed in its task and got a lot of average citizens on side. In Brazil's case, arguably its more about winning the World Cup than showcasing how well they can organise a sporting event. Since they didn't win, straight off the bat Brazil is in a bad position. They can salvage things if they manage to say, look we turned a profit and stimulated the economy etc. I have no idea how successful that would be.

Oh you silly foreigners.

We built massive stadiums for cities that do not even have a team for ridiculously inflated prices. We are never recouping it. Let's not talk about the 60% of infrastructure the government promissed that was not ready for the world cup. I like the sport and I was trying hard to separate the event with the massive shit that went arround prior and during said event.

I think our president is not going to be re-elected. I'm certainly not voting for anyone in power the next election this october.

Well Beijing claimed to make $170 million USD while Sochi made $22 million. From what Spekio says, Brazil looks nowhere close, although I have no idea how profitable hosting World Cups are. Plus Brazil don't have the consolation of a good performance (at least by their standards) to take away the pain.

A surprising amount of money goes to FIFA, so it's not directly comparable to the Olympics.

So its harder to make money on a World Cup. That just makes it worse.

They could have chosen a day billions of people don´t work that is also a day before a day that billions don´t work. But I guess they had to reserve that day for the finals of the losers.

Well, maybe Vettel in the second half of the season. I mean, his luck has to change at some point, right?

It sucked for Europeans, but for the Americas it was a perfect time between 11 and 17 o'clock. And we got lucky, for the Asians it was something between Sunday, midnight and Monday morning 7 AM.
And after all, it's only really a problem if the people who pay you are not tired themselves from watching and are around to check on you and if you have to stand up at 4:30 because your flight leaves at 6:15. (Full disclosure: My day sucked. But worth it).
