Ah damn it. Why did US always lose to Ghana in the world cups every time?

 The Americans pulled their goalie! [/hockey talk] I've never seen that before in football.

Have fun being out you twats. Have fun trying to spin this into a victory and I hope to see you fail again next year. Maybe you should go back to your shitty sports you're actually good at.

Now..now..I don't expect us to defeat Germany but I hope the game is good, regardless of result.

Maybe now would be a good time to turn into a douchebag trash talking patriot to lampoon the US, considering Whiplash will not be around anymore to fill that role...

Seriously. Dempsey usually doesn't do that, but that was utter bushleague.

Why did Bradley start Ricardo Clark? He's terrible. That's two goals that he cost us, and he generated absolutely nothing this tournament.

Thanas, how is the German media treating this game tomorrow. Is it actually quite tense, is it a "Oh we can win against them again feel" is it mixed? I am curious as our press is like a group of Howler Monkeys atm.

It is very relaxed.

I already linked to a fair summary of the German press, the rest is very relaxed as well, with some commentators openly stating that "we should be able to win this" and cautioning against being overconfident.

Nobody is howling, it looks more like routine business. I'd wager if we were to play against Argentina, there would be far more press coverage and attention.

I think overconfidence in general is the last thing any team wants to do for this cup given the amount of upsets and suprises we've seen. I was hoping the US would do well but I think Ghana deserved their place and it is nice for an African team to go somewhere for once.

So I'm supposed to rage and bitch at the team, now? Or am I getting the wrong message from your post?

Anyways, the US played hard, and they tried and came oh so close. There were so many good chances that we didn't convert. Lack of composure did us in. Hey, this is better than 2006 at least. :)

Be forewarned, this will be copy/pasted back into this thread when Germany crushes you. With minor changes of course.

Nah, just snarking at Whiplash and his tough guy USA USA routine, now that the USA got rightfully eliminated and turned out to have a major diver.

The USA deserved to lose that game. They again came out looking confused and tentative, and got beaten by the better team (and one that can actually finish opportunities). I'm disappointed, because when they pull their heads out the US is a good team, but bravo to Ghana. The better team won today.

And by the way, what the fuck is the deal with Landon Donovan? The "greatest American footballer" should really be able to go 1:1 and get by people from time to time. He may be the best finisher the US has, but his dribbling skills are awful.

He is just not that good a player, as evidence by Munich refusing to make him a team member and use him for anything besides friendly matches.

Yeah, the US team acted like they were just going to roll Ghana... for some reason. Ghana's a good team and they've stopped us butt-cold before; I don't know why anyone would underestimate them.

It is good to see an African team stay in play, though, for the first Cup played in Africa. Especially since the host team is already eliminated.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

What sucks the most is that the last thing I saw was the penalty kick goal, then I had to go run an errand for Sonny, and when I get back, it is just Americans staring off into nothing and Ghana dancing their asses off. I didn't even get to see it. :(

On the other hand, I didn't suffer the hour of anxiety I would have gone through if I got to watch it. :)

You're lucky. I only got to glance at the second half once, because I got stuck going to a cousin's rugby game.
