Doh! Thanks for pointing out the obvious to my stupid ass. I use the search function by hitting the same buttons every day for years, so I never really even look at the thing or consider that I can put different options in.

It appears the timezone for the board's server is wrong, since I have to set my profile to -4 GMT, when the correct one for EST is -5.

I believe I was doing a board software upgrade at the time. I generally try to make my upgrades look fairly seamless, in the sense that the whole thing isn't down for several hours at a time. But there are still occasional hiccups.

This has to be one of the more stable forums I have ever posted on. This is probably due to the no-frills software used - some forums add new hacks almost daily, and then wonder why there has been a six hour outage when the server admin was at work and couldn't fix it.

I was upgrading the database software to a new version. It's pretty much impossible to upgrade from one version of a database server software package to the next version without a bit of downtime, but 5 minutes isn't too bad.

I just got this when doing a search to see if anything about a thread I was wanting to start had been posted. I don't know if it's just the board software or my browser (I haven't done a search in a while), but something's definitely not right here.

Considering the things other people have searched for, and I'm fairly sure I've done one to two word searches before myself, I'm not entirely sure how I could narrow it any further than I already have.

I just upgraded the server's operating system this morning. Complete rip 'n replace. When you do something major like that, there's always the possibility that something got changed and I didn't notice. So please report any strange anomalies here.

The normal link still takes me to the "board is down for upgrades" page though the secure link seems to work just fine.

edit: The regular link's working again. Everything seems fine so far.

I had a problem switching to the new Saruman avatar from the gallery last night. Ended up downloading the image to my machine and then uploading it from there and everything was fine.

I was upgrading MySQL to the latest bugfix version. The actual server didn't go down but the MySQL server daemon did.

Have to repeat the problem. I tried selecting an avatar from the gallery, but when I first go back to my profile page, it gives me a broken image (red X and all). Then when I go to view a post, it has my old avatar still there (and even did when I made a quickie new post in Testing). Then I go back to my Profile edit page, and it's back to my original avatar.

Apparently all I have to do is go from the Profile page, to the Index, then back to Profile for my old avatar to "reset" itself.

The board just belched. XaLEv reported a very short outage on the order of several seconds to a minute as well at 13:30CDT.
