The server is sluggish as hell right now. I checked and it looks like Googlebot is all over us.
For a time, I considered sparing your wretched little planet Cybertron.

It ain't funny!

This bandwidth sucking is totally kicking my ass, and making browsing the board almost impossible at times.

Same here. It's fucking killing my connection-- the pages are taking a minute at a time to load up, normally they should only take a few seconds...
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

For some reason I was totally unable to connect to the board for something like the last eight hours (I would try frequently, though not constantly: maybe for five minutes every 30-45 minutes), and it wasn't a problem on my end, since I could still connect to and browse other websites. I had the same problem in the early AM hours this morning.

Or something like that. All I know is that I couldn't get on for hours.

Anything on that?

Works fine now, but last night it kept timing out all over the place or coming up really wonky...

It seems like the Googlebot problem has subsided somewhat. I'm reluctant to lock out Googlebot because I can see some merit in being indexed by the Almighty G, but damn, it can really put a hurting on that server.

So is the formatting for Sticky threads off for anybody BESIDES me? I'm reasonably certain they, too, are supposed to show the standard white/yellow sheet of paper-ish icon instead of a text saying 'No new posts' or 'This topic is locked: you cannot edit posts or make replies'.

What you are seeing is the alternate text, meaning that your browser burped while trying to download the sticky icon.

Is this of any use? I don't know much about how search engines operate, but from what I can gather it could enable us to attract even more members via google if it does what it says on the tin.

I don't know if this is a board software problem or what, but I was searching for some posts by Isana Kadeb for his ban poll in the Senate, and it couldn't seem to find any results. I copied and pasted his user name to be sure I wasn't misspelling it, and it still didn't find anything. The search from his profile, however, turns up material. This is opposed to searching for posts by Darth Wong, for example, which turns up some 16000 results. Is there a reason for this, or am I just missing out on some common sense again?
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

I just took a look at this and I noticed that the link to search all his posts from his profile has the URL as "Isana++Kadeb". For whatever reason there are two spaces between the first and second words. If you do a search for Isana__Kadeb (where the "_" are spaces) you'll get results.

I just did a minor bugfix version upgrade. Hopefully there are no issues as a result. One of the changes related to PHP session management and security, so hopefully we don't start getting a lot of "invalid session" errors.

In this vein, I'm reporting that I encountered an "Invalid session" error while posting in this thread at about 2:50 PM ET. Hitting "Submit" again on the page allowed me to post normally.

When I click the "View Newest Post" icon on any given thread, it only works the first time I use it for that thread. Thereafter, if there are new posts in the thread since the last time I viewed it and I click the link to go to the first new post, it takes me to the post that was new the first time I used it. What gives?

Edit: And now, ironically enough happening for the first time right in this post in the bug report thread ( ) I got the Invalid Session error. I almost didn't read it at first and thought I'd accidentally hit Preview; I barely caught what it actually said before the message posted the second time I clicked Submit.

Are you saying it wasn't always like this?
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Well, it's been doing it for months for me... I feel cheated.
