I'd like to reiterate what Stravo said about there being no jobs for history majors because there aren't many. Insurance companies like people with liberal arts degrees but it's almost impossible to find anything in history other than teaching.
Well, with the majors I'm doing I'm aiming to get a graduate position with DFAT or another government branch.

If nothing else, its a guaranteed position for 4 years with good pay.
If I lived in the Washington D.C. area I might have some options for a government job with the degree I have, plus being a veteran, but the only "civilian" government jobs in Arizona involve me joining the Air Force reserve which kind of defeats the purpose of being out of the military. :)

There are non-teaching jobs available for history majors it's just that there aren't many and there's a lot of competition for the ones that open up.

Actually, if I wanted to be a Border Patrol agent they have tons of openings plus I'd get 6 years seniority off the bat. Unfortunately I don't really want a job where I carry a side-arm. Besides that my Spanish sucks.

After the end of the Cold War most of the "civilian" jobs for the federal government went away in this area. There are a few left and Im trying to get one, but in this economy its gonna be tough. Im not really interested in carrying a side arm either. Although for here it would be Customs and not Border Patrol.

Ryerson University second semester Computer Science.
I'll mostly likely get a minor in maths.
I'm hoping to get a job in AI research.
