My never-to-be-humble opinion is that soccer (or football, or futbol, like it is called in hispanic countries) appeals only to the lowest common denominator of society. If you don't believe me, look at the hooligans in Europe, and then tell me otherwise. Same is true, to a lesser degree, of all other expectator sports, regardless of country.
