I believe he is talking about Mike Wong's side note wondering if people type in sb.com and sd.net thinking that they are the actual url's.Uh, what?
Well, I don't recall sb.com being a functioning url, but then I haven't been around as long as many of the people who frequent the site.
[edit]Oh, and...
What's so bad about that thread? The Borg VS A Borg
A couple of years ago, I could type in www.sb.com on my browser and it would take me to Spacebattles.

Re: Oh yeah, SB debates are so much higher in quality
Sweet mother of God!!! They have a sense of humor!! BURN THEM AT THE STAKE!!! HERETICS!!! HUMOR IS FORBIDDEN!!! YOUR ONLY CONCERN IN LIFE MUST BE HOW MANY GOOGLYWATTS OF UBERJUICE A TURBOGUNBLASTERBOMB GENERATES PER SECOND!!!Doomriser wrote:Threads today from the VS Forum. You can find lots of great stuff on SB that can't be found on SD.NET:
The Ultimate Pokemon Battle
The Borg VS A Borg
Emperor Palpatine vs. The Ghostbusters
Croc Hunter vs. Bugs Bunny
Croc Hunter vs. Xenomorphs
Abraham Lincoln vs. George Washington
Stormtroopers vs. Fuma-ryu Shinobi no-mono
It may also have escaped your notice that the VS debates forum at SB is for sci-fi in general (and includes fantasy as well), not just Star Wars vs. Star Trek. It gives me a kick that you people actually bash them because they don't take the debate on firepower/logistics etc. of fictional universes seriously.
Same with SD.netDoomriser wrote:Ah, the old "It's only a joke" defense. Yeah, all of SB is a joke.

Maybe because I find it fun, and even can be a learning experience debating and conversing with people?Doomriser wrote:If SD.net is a joke, then why do you post here?Alyeska wrote:Same with SD.netDoomriser wrote:Ah, the old "It's only a joke" defense. Yeah, all of SB is a joke.

First I think many at SD.net and ASVS seem to generalize that SB is full of rapid Trekkies. I was once a Trekkie, while now I could really care less about who'd win in a straight up fight.
Second:
The "culture" of SB and SD are also different, IMO.
At SB we have evolved mainly into a Story Debate and Non Sci-fi Discussion area, those two forums are *very* active. SD.net is more about SW, and that's fine.
And at SB I also think we just like to have more fun and fool around, which I enjoy. We've got a lot of people at SB that are great, funny, and friendly. The atmostphere and "culture" isn't like it is here at SD.net. SD.net is far more serious than SB is.
Personally I'd take SB, but that's just how I feel from the almost 3 years I've been there (2 years and 8 months exactley).

A little history
The thread on SB was titled "The essay which proves (Mike) Wong is wrong" and it was up prior to the "invasion" from ASVS. So the name wasn't really changes when it was brought over. Also those debating it (Kynes, Kerkhof, Edam, Phong, ect) were not merely parroting SD.net. It really is a shame that those threads are lost or it would be easy to demonstrate.
I really don't see the big deal with this radio drama. To portray MW as an evil despot plays into his persona here. I just think it would have been funnier to have had him run down by a mob of trekkies in full gear rushing to a convention to get an autograph from that new Vulcan chick.
Besides, look at the treatment some of the denizens of SB get on my site. Apart from the ramblings of Dark Lord, the only letter I've gotten from them was one of praise from Vertigo1. And this was after I had him as a cross-dresser going though a bitter break-up with Reaperman.
Now while I believe the denizens of SD are more likely to come up with new tech info, this doesn't preclude SB from producing the occasional golden nugget; William Lampi (CoolGuy) is credited on Saxton's site with the discovery of possible canon proof of HTL's in RotJ.

On the topic of the SpaceBattles versus Mike Wong "radio play", allow me to say this.
*ahem*
IT IS SATIRE!
It's not at all a serious attack on Mike or anyone else. I mean for Pete's sake, it's damn near tradition in the Free World to satirize those people who are in the spotlight in a particular field. It's one of our best rights, to be able to poke fun of anybody we want. Some of the best comedy in the world is satire. Lighten up! I mean, I respect Mike, he's obviously a very intelligent, if powerfully aggressive, gentleman, but it's not like he's a diety or anything. It just seems silly to fuss and feud over this as if you are defending a king from something slanderous. If anything, he's the only one who should be indignant here, though I can't see why since satire is in a way a veiled compliment because it recognizes a persons popularity.
Rant over, feel free to flame me.
