Two of the sign that you're getting old are meant to be, when you can remember the daze, and when you think the current generation are whippersnappers. I fail both.

I can remember when you would buy 50c of mixed lollies, and have enough between you AND your friend for the afternoon! I can remember when music was epic and good. Music used to be happy and not depressing!

I tell you, the kids these days! Little rats who need discipline! When i was a kid, if i didn't keep my room tidy, vacuum the hall, and sweep the backyard, i didn't get my $2 pocket money! I used to get the strap when i misbehaved, and it did me well!

*sigh*

Yeah, I know :) The lady that cuts my hair is sweet, because she laughs every time that I joke to cut the gray hairs shorter than all the rest...

Of course, I guess wearing an onion on my belt ('cause that was the style in my day) gives it away too.

Go to: http://www.thisdayinmusic.com and click on "your birthday no. 1"

Mine were "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" by Steam in the US, and "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies in the UK.

haha, I'm old :)

And if we've done this before, I don't remember it, so let's do it again
They don't have Russia in the listing. They only seem to have US/UK there. So, I guess I'll never know what the #1 song was on the day I was born (although I'm sure it's crappy Soviet pop :D )

Have a very nice day.

In the U.S. it was Kiss by Prince.

The U.K. had
A Different Corner by George Michael

I think I might've heard Kiss...the other one is drawing a complete blank though.

I don't recall the George Michael song either but if you've seen the movie Pretty Woman then you've heard Julia Roberts butcher part of Kiss

You should be glad very glad. I know that I am glad that he had his popular phase and then basically disappeared never to be heard again.

Oh please. Compared to some of the 80's pop hits other people got?!!?! Puh-leez. Paul Simon is a legend, "50 Ways" is great, and "Oh What a Night" is a cool song.

On January 30, 1980 the top song on the charts was...

Drum roll please...

Michael Jackson 'Rock with You'

Yeah, baby, yeah. That was actually a good song too. Subsequentially, IIRC it was his first solo single.
