Bah yourself. I spend a number of hours on the computer everyday; I don't have time to make any candles or quilts with all that cranking I have to do (see, chimps, gerbils and wheels haven't been invented in this part o' the world yet). There's just barely enough time to squeeze in a quickie before bed, so that's pretty much it. No quilting for this chick.Demiurge wrote:Bah. There's nothing more wholesome than sitting around all day making candles and quilts.
Cyran! *aghast* Do you want me to roast, is that what you're saying?!!

My town has 6000, however the area is basically totally developed and I basically consider my whole school district to be my town, which has several times that. But it's also all surrounded by development so the distinction all gets fairly meaningless. The Philadelphia area has millions of people.

My beloved Hometown in which I lived my entire life is Berlin(west)/ Germany and has a population of 3.4 million within city limits and ~5 mill counting suburbs (Though it is a bit arrogant to call Potsdam a suburb considering the city is 2000 years old compared to Berlins paltry 750).
The smallest town I´ve ever been to had a population of 7 and a total of three houses. I recall it was somewhere in the Harz mountains.

Wherefore did all the comrades leave good ol' Sankt-Peterburg? 300K is no small number; did they move to other cities, did they move to other countries, or did they all die in a huge epidemic of bubonic plague?fgalkin wrote:Leningrad, RSFSR had a population of 5 million. Well, the closest thing to a town here is 15km away and I am pretty sure it doesn't top 1000, maybe 500.Zaia wrote:*stifled laugh* My hometown proper has about 300 people in it.
Anyway I live out in the woods, there's small village here next to a lake, it follows this somewhat large road that connects several places, there are about 12 houses here, and lots of fields and forrests.
Here's the picture from the chopper, which I've shown before I think:

EDIT:
Here's a local map also, the smalltown called Korsnäs is the one I'm talking about:

I haven't lived here since I graduated high school in 1987 but I guess it counts as my "home town".
31,275 people. I think it was closer to 28,000 when I last lived there.
My current city of Tucson has a population of 486,699 but with the suburbs it probably creeps pretty close to 800,000. If you throw in the illegals or those who are afraid to be counted in the U.S. census and we're probably close to a million. Okay, that might be pushing it a little bit.
It's intersing. The population density of Pima County is 35 people per km² but then the county is freakin' huge (Arizona only has 13 counties). Most of the peoplein Pima count actually live in and around Tucson

Maybe 200.
It was a small mining town, but it wasn't really a town. The area I grew up had 8 houses, if you drove a bit you'd get to other groups of houses, everything else was trees and a mine. The road was gravel, it didn't have a name, mail was delivered to "John Doe, Rural Route #2" and got to your house because the mailman knew everybody.
The place still managed to have two churches... go figure
I now live in a town of about 15,000, about 40-minute drive away from Montreal.

Belfast population is currently estimated at around 300000 IIRC, it was 270000 in the 1996 survey (from a brief search online, the actual figure is probably out there somewhere...)Lord Pounder wrote:I live in Belfast. i'm not sure of an exact number. Or goverment is too busy trying to find an excuse to start killing each other again to actually count. i'd guess somewhere between 500K and a million.

EDIT: I know what you mean though, I was sure that my home town had a higher population than it did.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
