If your grandfather's sister is his aunt, I'll assume that your aunt married his uncle. If so, then he's not a blood relative...so I'm not sure what that would make him. If he IS a blood relative, then your grandfather would be his uncle, making him your mother or father's cousin and therefore your first cousin once removed.

I think the best you can do is first cousin (once removed) via marriage ;)

I can trace my family tree directly back to the mayflower on my grandmothers side if that counts.

Sweet, i now pledge my undying loyalty to Northern Irelands proper royalty.

My uncle was kinda famous untill they shot him. Famous if you consider founding Northern Irelands largest terrorist organisation, the UDA. I personally don't have much to do with that side of my family.

Actually, I think that's it. One removed cousin from my dad is what I think I heard before. Honestly, I haven't cared that much to really check into it. When my mother first mentioned that to me, my question was "Who's Patrick Swayze?"

My great uncle was one of the guys who went with Mawson on the first South Pole trip. He was the poor bastard who fell down a crevasse with a lot of supplies.
On my Mum's side, I've got some English nobles and criminals, both lots of which came out to Australia on the First Fleet.

George Bancroft, the founder of the Naval Academy, is related to me, according to my grandfather. He's charted it all out.

I have had no famous people in my family, although various branch members fought in the US, Italian, and Polish armies of WWII.

As for me...uh...I share a birthday with the infamous Boston Tea Party. That's gotta count for something, right? :D

Well, there's a town in Cape Breton called Wadden's Cove, and there's the Wadden Sea that borders on Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, so I figure someone in my family must've done something significant at some point.

My old man, he's done his TV bit every now and again, nothing more than providing a sound bite or two for local radio and, I believe, the Guardian at one point, and he's written a couple of history interest best sellers in the area, but that's about as close to fame as I'll get. :)

My aunt has been doing my family's geneology for almost two decades. She's traced our family back to English royals (I can't remember which one exactly, since there was a little bit of controversy as to exactly whose illegitimate son one of my ancestors was, but I'm almost definitely descended from Eleanor of Aquitaine. :D )

Also, if you follow the English royalty back far enough, you find Vikings!

...And that's it.

The paternal side of my family has a blood relation with Robert E. Lee and George Washington's grandmother. That's about it.
