Eddie Olczyk said it himself. "Nothing but water bottle."

Game six will be brutal, I expect Coach Babcock to be well prepared for this one, but having home ice right now is a huge luxury. I'm hoping we can pull this off so we have a little more prep time for the Sens.

Ducks up 3-0 at the end of the 2nd period, the Perry line is completely dominating the Redwings and beating them senseless with puck possession and control along the boards. Also gotta love how they play the chorus from "Bro Hymn Tribute" after every goal, fucking rocks.

Detroit showed the character of a typical never say die Mike Babcock team, but in the end...

I demand the appearance of Darth Garden Gnome at once for insight and speculation on Hasek's impending retirement.

He's probably in mourning, and will be gone for a while like MoO was after the Sharks were eliminated.

I am usually not like this but he finally has a chance to win back bragging rights after 4 years and lost it. The SDN pro-Duck bandwagon was running STRONG back in 03.

I am torn.

I would like to see some Ducks players win the Stanley Cup.

I would like to see some Senators players win the Stanley Cup.

SOLUTION: Not be unhappy when one of the teams lose.

It is much better than the emotions from the past to Finals. Cheering for the Flames and losing and then cheering against the Oilers is a bit of a rollercoaster when you have as much emotional investment in NHL hockey as I do.

I think we're drawing in Buffalo fans to our bandwagon since Ryan Miller's little brother is playing for the Ducks, and forced a key turnover while skating on the top line with Selanne and McDonald. The Sabres goaltender was in attendance Monday evening and I expect he will be there Wednesday as well.

I think it's because Buffalo fans are just bitter and just want a chance to cheer against the team which eliminated them from the playoffs. The biggest hyped team in years, the chosen ones as annointed by the press, and they got creamed in 5 games by the Sens. Buffalonians should know by now that their hockey team is about as likely to win the Cup as their NFL team is to win the Superbowl.

I'm just going by what I have seen Buffalo fans posting. It does create a humorous situation. Sabres fans can rejoice that Ryan Miller did make it to the Cup Finals, but he had to buy a ticket. Maybe a couple of the pizza parlors in the Buffalo area could raise money for him to go to the games in Ottawa? (As they tried to do for Lindy Ruff.)

RE: Chris Pronger hit.

It was late, that was the only thing wrong with it, IMO. I didn't see an elbow up at all.

If I am not mistaken head shots aren't banned in the NHL like they are in international hockey. By the book, no suspension. (I could be wrong here).

Don't compare it to the Holmstrom hit either. The Holmstrom hit was an ELBOW (illegal) from BEHIND (illegal). Definitely a suspension.

That being said, I think Colin Campbell spins his magic wheel of justice for 1 game. Pronger returns in Anaheim.

And around it goes...

Colin Campbell's magic wheel of justice spins again.

EDIT: Further comments:

At the NHL.com highlights page, here, at about 2:10 of the highlight reel you can clearly see Chris Neil CHARGE (illegal) and then ELBOW (illegal) Andy McDonald. Yet, no suspension. I wonder why?

CBC Archive footage of the game, here. The hit in question is just after the 2:57:00 mark if I am not mistaken. They fail to show an angle that conclusively proves it is an elbow to the head, IMO.

Archon, sorry but you're wrong on both counts. The "charge" by Chris Neil first of all didn't result in an elbow to the head, and second wasn't a charge.
NHL Rules wrote:Charging shall mean the actions of a player or goalkeeper who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.
Are you seriously going to argue that that was a violent check as a result of the distance he traveled to get to him?

Even if you consider that a charge, it's hard to justify giving that a suspension given that it was obviously not with intent to injure and done in the flow of the game.

Second of all, Pronger's hit on McAmmond is obviously an elbow from the youtube video, as well as being a pretty long while after the shot was taken.

I was kind of surprised it drew a suspension, but given Pronger's history I can't say I disagree with it--he's already been suspended for an even more vicious hit on Holmstrom during these playoffs. It should've been a 5:00 and a gamer for Pronger on the ice, and I guess it's good that the League took a look at it, though I'm not sure it was hard enough to justify a suspension.
NHL Rules wrote:Elbowing shall mean the use of an extended elbow in a manner that may or may not cause injury.

46.3 A major penalty must be imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent.

46.5 When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct penalty shall be imposed.

That's pretty much what it comes down to, if this was the first time Pronger had elbowed someone in the he likely would've gotten away with it, but it wasn't. Pronger's too damn slow so he's had to resort to taking cheapshots against the Detroit and Ottawa players, he can't hit them fair & square so he hits them from behind with his elbow up.

The NBC angle conclusively proves that it was indeed an elbow to the head. I had not seen that angle. Conceded. I will echo MoO's comments on the suspension as well.

NOTE: I do agree with the suspension on the Holmstrom hit. See my earlier comments on headshots as well.

GAME 4 RUNNING COMMENTARY

There should be no such thing as goaltender interference when the goalie is 5 feet outside of the fucking crease.

1st Period - Senators win
2nd Period - Ducks win
3rd Period - Ducks win, they gummed up the middle of the ice nicely.

Andy McDonald is awesome.

HYPERBOLE: It seems that the Scotiabank Place fans want a call every time a Senator gets hit.

Series 3-1, it ends on Wednesday in Anaheim.

I was also bothered by the massive fucking dive that Ray Emery took on that play, too. Call the interference, but at least even up given that sales job.

Frankly, I'm surprised the series has even been this close. With Pronger back, the Sens are done.

Glorious. Simply a glorious display. I eagerly anticipate Anaheim's Game 5 victory. At which point I will crack open the champagne bottles and celebrate the ULTIMATE OTTAWA SENATORS CHOKE :D :D :D

Ottawa will never be able to live this down. They had it all going for them, and when they had their one chance at the cup, they fucked up. Hahahaha! "Canada's Team" my ass.

I will be there Wednesday....here's a few thoughts.

Alfredsson should be suspended for the slapshot he took at Niedermayer, if he were wearing a Ducks uniform he would have.

Pronger barely even moved his arm on this McAmmond hit. Skate with your fucking head up if you don't want to get laid out.

Emery definitely channeling Sean Avery on that dive of his, and I agree that goaltenders outside of the crease should be fair game. The NHL is really fucking up on that one this year, goalies that end up behind the damn net to play the puck know they can't be touched and too many cheap penalites are called.

The Senators have become Leafs-Lite, but at least they have some recent success to back it up.

ANDY MAC-FUCKING-DONALD. Nice to see him exploding for offense in his own right.

Don Cherry doing some commentary during the second intermission, excellent stuff about how the NHL needs to let physical play and fighting back in. Could Brett Hull's nose get any more brown on it? The man boldy praises the Ducks after doing everything he could to praise Detroit even after losses in the WCF.

The cup will be in attendance for game 5. It still hasn't fully sunk in that it could be my last game of the season, after hitting up my first preseason game in September. Six and a half months of regular season and two and a half months of postseason. There were babies concieved just prior to this season that have been delivered! You expect me to wait another three months for the Ducks to meet the Kings in England? More fucking hockey!
