What do you mean? A lot of people have mentioned his death. Or are you refering to the fact that I can't remember the guy's name? "I'm like a leaf in the wind", is the guy I'm talking about.

It's Wash. Perhaps drachefly thought you referring to that random Alliance pilot Mal shoots after Book dies.

Envy is only one of the 7 'Abominations' or Humunculi. She has the special ability to shape-shift into near-perfect duplicates. The other Humunculi (named after the 7 Deadly Sins) each have their own special ability, such as Greed's armoured skin, Lust's razor-claws, Wrath's alchemy, Sloth's gel-body, or Gluttony's ability to eat everything he can stuff in his mouth. Although I'm still not sure if Pride has a special ability beyond his swordsmanship and charisma.

Now, back OT: I dont' know if this would fall under best or worst, but the death of the US Godzilla ("Here lizzard, lizzard, lizzard"). It takes being trapped in the cables of a suspension bridge and two missiles to bring her down. And then there's the slowly stilling heartbeat, and the huge eye finally glazes over.

Pride(Wrath in the manga, Anime Wrath is anime-only) has a eye(his left one, IIRC, has the seal) that can see through all defenses.

Martel's death in the Manga also gets a mention along the Anime. In the manga, she dies in the sewers along with her friends. As Bradley is leaving, she lashes out inside of Al's arm, taking control of it and attacking the Furher. Bradley just coldly stops the attack and kills her just as he did later in the anime.

But in the manga at least, Martel leaves Al with a gift before she goes...

A gift? What gift did she leave Al in the manga?
I'm pretty sure Martel revealed the Fuhrer's secret to Al before she dies in the anime, although this isn't shown implicitly. She crawls inside and starts talking, then Bradley is there. In theory, there was enough time for her to say "he's one of them!"

Well you shouldn't have killed him then...

It seems odd nominating him, as he's nearly the only character in the game to start with, aside from the narrator and Yellow 4, and none of them actually have names.

It does make a stark contrast to the death of Chopper in AC5 though, who gets a very melodramatic action movie exit. Yellow 13 just goes up one day and never comes back.

Oh, I forgot about Daniel Jackson. Meridian was perhaps one of the best dramatic episodes of Stargate SG-1 aside from Heroes (though Dr. Frasier's death was short and wrenching and only discovered later on, the episode itself was incredibly moving).

Ryan Chapelle in 24 Season 3. Jack has to execute him in a trainyard to stop a terrorist from releasing a bio-weapon across major American cities. Very well done scene.

Raz Al Ghul's death in Batman Begins. He looks ahead, realizes the inevitable, and closes his eyes.

Aw damn, how could I forget Chapelle's death? He's there, he tries to kill himself, he can't pull through. He was always a weak asshole, and where a normal plot would have him redeeming himself through suicide, he fails, and it actually endears you more to the character. Especially after he got in the helicopter and didn't tell anyone. I felt so sorry for him when he was being a dick to people in CTU and he couldn't tell any of them why he was really leaving. He's still a hero in my eyes for that.

George Mason died a more clichéd but nevertheless heroic death in season 2, too.

I was also fucking glad when Sheri Palmer got shot. Bitch. She was always a bad idea, but David would never listen to me!

I nearly forgot one of the most moving deaths in comedy:

Captain Edmund Blackadder's death in the "big push" of the Somme trenches in the very end of the series, and of course the deaths of his soldiers. Very moving and emotional, I just couldn't believe that a comedy series could end like that, with no laugh, just sad music, bombardment and men running towards their doom.

Oh yes. How did I forget that one? Possibly one of the best series endings ever.

I like all of the deaths in Twelve Kingdoms, particularly Asano-kun's. There he is, being truly brave for the first time in his life, and it's all futile.

And Legato's death in Trigun. If I'm ever a bad guy, that's the way I'd like to go - it just proves that there are some perverse situations when the winner of a fight is the one who dies.

Wash's death was good too. I'm a fan of sudden, instant deaths. I figure that that's what violent death should be about; none of this hanging around and having your last words to your closest friend crap. I like it when they're dead before the sword that killed them has gone *click* in the sheath.

I'm talking about Envy's nickname.
ENVY: Hello, Ultimate Shield.
GREED: Hello, Ultimate... oh that's right, you like to be called Abomination.

Envy is "Abomination", Greed is "Ultimate Shield", Pride is "Ultimate Eye". The nicknames of the others, if they exist, are unknown.

EDIT - Just wanted to reply to this
...each have their own special ability, such as Greed's armoured skin, Lust's razor-claws, Wrath's alchemy, Sloth's gel-body...
Wrath's special ability is not alchemy, his special ability is that he can merge his body with innanimate objects (examples include: a rock, a bed, leather straps, the floor). The fact that he can do alchemy is a bonus from having Ed's lost limbs.

I had to kill him, it's my job, and anyway, he wanted to find-out who between us was truly the best. Considering that I single-handedly shot-down both him and his entire 5-plane wing of elite Aquila Squadron* pilots, I'm clearly the best of the best.

There are a few distinct characters in Ace Combat 4, let me enumerate them:
Yellow 13, Yellow 4, Mobius 1 (that's the player), Sky Eye, the narrator, and the barkeep's daughter. It's funny, the only folks that have 'real' names (like Colonel John Doe, or whatever) in the whole game are: The ground commander in "Operation Bunker Shot", the guy that replaces him, the woman that takes over for the wounded captain in "Escort", and Jean-Luc who I guess is Megalith's commander. Everyone else either has code-name (Sky Eye) or a title (Barkeep, Crew Chief).

*Yellow Squadron's official name is Aquila Squadron. "Yellow" is just a nickname, kind of like "Big Red One" is a nickname for a US First Infantry Division.

So it's realistic. Why's that good? While I agree that every character lasting long enough to spout off dramatic last words can be grating, what's so utterly terrific about just having him fall down? In a war movie, sure, it's part of the idea. But typically? There's gotta be a real REASON behind the death and treating it the way Wash's was treated just plain annoyed me. And I haven't even seen Firefly. You can't just kill the guy and move on. Lacks drama.

Can't believe I forgot Norris Packard from 08th MS team. The man takes on an entire team of enemy mobile suits with ground-sonar support, and far superuior mobile suits and weapons and manages to one by one take our their long range weaponry and the guntanks they're guarding until it's down to him facing off with a damaged mobile suit between him and the last guntank. Time's running out and he's found out that the Fed pilot who's become Aina's lover (for the record Norris loves Aina like she was his own daughter) is the one facing him down. So he makes a choice and charges, taking a hit from the beam saber in the cockpit of his suit. Right before it burns through though he manages to get off his last words..

"Victory is mine!"

Then the saber sweeps through and obliterates his cockpit, only he's already triggered his Gouf's cannons and the shots take out the last guntank.
