Who Guitarist Arrest on Child Porn Charges

So what do you think? Is he a child pornographer? An idiot researcher? Does it matter?

To my way of thinking even if his excuse is genuine, and I doubt it is, then he still bought kiddie porn. For that he deserves to spend a good long time in prison. Purchasing kiddie porn is and always should be illegal. If that was valid research there are much better, and legal, ways to conduct it. I think in a likelyhood he is a pedophile and thought he could get away with it.

Sadly, thank to his excuse and his celebrity status he'll probably get away with it. It's fucking pathetic that a star can ecen after a crime that horrendous.

I heard that he supported charities to help prevent child abuse, but that still doesn't make him innocent. But, if that won't make him innocent, his celebrity status will. I say he's guilty.

The thing is, even if he is absolutely inoccent he will still be catching crap about this for the rest of his life. Once accusations or rumors hit the general public stuff like that always turns into a ton of jokes on late night tv and after awhile people believe it whether it is true or not.

I'd give some examples but the only ones I can think of Michael Jackson (likely is a child molester) OJ Simpson (likely is a murder) don't exactly prove my point. I guess the only one I can think of right now is Richard Geare and that whole gerbil thing.

In some cases I really wonder if celebrities get off from stuff the rest of us wouldn't or if stuff we wouldn't have any problems with is blown all out of proprotion because they are celebrities? It seems to work both ways sometimes.

Back on Pete Townsend, considering how absolutely obsessed most Western societies are about protecting children he was really stupid to be doing research in a way that would bring child porn into his home or put it on his computer. These days if you have children you have to be careful about taking nude pictures of them because what may seem totally innocent to you may be reported to the authorites. So if he was going to do research on that suject (why??? his childhood?) he should have used his handy dandy celebrity clout and gotten an interview with the legal authorities who track this stuff and with people who help the children deal with the aftermath. So you are right that he certainly deserves some swift kick in the ass for being such a dumbass.

If I wanted to investigate child pornographers, I'd try to find out what kind of money they're taking in, where they base their operations, etc. Purchasing child porn from them would be utterly useless unless I'm a vice squad undercover agent and it's a sting operation.

I of course try to believe all to be innocent until proven guilty, but since he doesn't seem to contest the charges I have no problem saying that he is indeed a very sick fuck. His excuse is pure bullshit, you wouldn't do research on firearm mechanics by shooting innocent people in the head, you wouldn't do research on rape by fucking the woman next door against her will.

I'm not 100% sure but i think he is claiming it was research into his Autobiography, and to incidents of his own cjhildhood he is just starting to address himself. (He belives, he claims, that he himself was an abused child.) whether or not you believe him is up too you, for now I'm reserving judgment, if he is telling the truth then he was being an idiot but there is no crime against that....

Actually, in this case there is. He downloaded kiddie porn and hasn't even denied it. I think he's guilty as sin and deserves punishment.
