Board performance issues

After consulting with my webhost's tech support people, it would appear that the periodic performance issues on the board are due to intermittent traffic surges on the shared database server where the posts are being stored. I'm not sure whether they are DOS attacks yet, but they don't appear to be targeting my site in particular. They've given me the OK to shift the database to a different server, which will hopefully solve those period lagging problems people have been having.

I plan to do this early tomorrow morning (around 7:30-8:00am EST). Hopefully, this will neutralize the problem.

Will we get our own database, or will we share it with someone else?

Board back up!

We're up and running again, on a new database server with (supposedly) lower traffic. Hopefully the performance issues should cease.

they could have simply edited a line in php.ini.....but hey if thats what you want....

AND no its not a DOS attack. There saved you the trouble of studing traffic logs.

I reviewed the phpBB source code to look for places to modify for speed, it looks well coded, though there are some arctectual issues.

what you might want to try, is that there should be a database "persistancy option" make sure thats selected and saved. That should clear up any problems you are running into with connectins overfilling whne too many requests are taken in.
