i'm sure everyone is quite farmilliar with the trend of attatching comical amounts of useless crap on the exteriors of cars these days. So i'd like to hear what is the most ridiculous thing you have seen. here's my contribution: A few summers ago i headed off to Block Island, the little known 3rd island West of Martha's Vinyard and Nantucket. Anyway i came across a car. It was a 1985 chrysler K-Car, painted tye-dye with a Loran system mounted to the roof. yea thats right a Loran, a radar system for a yaht, right on the roof. It looked like a psycodelic mini love boat chuggin down the street.

The funniest thing I ever saw was pimped out low rider late 80's Camry. I knew from school the white guy that drove it. Damn he was a fucking stupid little wigger.

A low-riding Toyota Camry?? And the Late-1980s model which resembled a bloated, more angular Toyota Carina?? That sounds plain weird. What's next, a hot-rod Lada??

(For those not versed in the lore of Toyota-ology, the Carina was a mid-sized Toyota model which was smaller than a Camry but bigger than a Corolla. In 1999, it was replaced by the Toyota Avensis, which is getting a facelift for 2003 which gives it a more Peugeot 607-esque look)

This dorkus who lives a street down from me put a king size spoiler and gold wheels on a mid-late 80's Nissan Maxima. The spoiler's about the same height as the roof of the damn car. I couldn't decide if I should laugh my ass off or put the poor car out of its misery.

Does the car that Homer Simpson designed count? :)

"Powerful as a gorilla, yet soft and yielding like a Nerf-ball."

"Presenting the HOMER. The car built for Homer."

"Any questions?"

"What does this... monstrosity cost?"

"Larry, what's the sticker price?"

"EIGHTY-TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS? THIS MONSTROSITY COSTS EIGHTY-TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS! I'M RUINED!"

The strangest modifications I've seen to real cars would be two old clunkers I've seen driving around town. One of them was completely covered with wheat-grass (that nasty stuff that health-nuts torture themselves with in order to live for another six weeks), and one of them is covered with old computer components.

The cars that come out of Monster Garage and the Red Green show are good contenders here.

There's a guy driving an old Chevy Suburban around my town with the outline of a body on the hood, splattered red.

A '65 Cadillac with '59 Cadillac tailfins scabbed on. Criminally hideous.

Well... I was in LA last April, and was staying in a Hotel, and I saw the moost hideous car ever... the only word to describe it is: bling-bling.

It was gold everything. And I mean everything.

Then again, there is the black stretch hummer I saw once...

By the way, I have actually found pictures of lowered SUVs!!!

What the heck is the purpose with that?? A SUV is supposed to be high-riding, otherwise its terrain-going abilities would be seriously impaired.

That's not just criminally hideous, it's utterly insane.

Some of my high school friends had a piece of shit car, which they stripped most of the body off of (leaving basically just the frame and engine), and welded metal chairs to--making a neat dune buggy.

Funny story happed when they were driving out into the country-side to do this: The engine died, and the driver tried to shift into neutral to start it again... but he went too far and put in reverse while going about 40-45 mph.

Actually, I like my grandpa's modifications, they actually serve a purpose, the fact that the man will take any overengined piece of Detriot steel and turn it into the worlds uglyest construction/logging vehicle, and do so while eliminating most of the safety hazards from the original design, is quite an occomplishment.

I still laugh thinking about that poor pinto...
Cut the damn rear end off, Mounted a hydralic 12ton Press wedge, that could split a 8' across oak CROSSGRAIN, MOVED the gas tank, Changed completly replaced the suspension so it could handle the load, and put extra warning lights etc. so that it was Highway safe.

He sold it to a lumber company.

For those not familiar Gandpa Witz has a sidebusiness making and selling Tim Allen type monstrosities, However his actually work, and in some strange way actually serve a purpose. Just don't ask the cat or dog about why a house in the country needs a 3 horse Swamp Cooler, ok?

When I was a kid I saw a car completely covered in radio station stickers.

Yesterday, I saw a cheap ass Dodge with a spoiler that was bolted on. He squealed around the corner going to fast for a residential neighborhood playing the radio loud.

All I can say is

a) Slow the fuck down in residential areas
b) Your spoiler will not do shit
c) Save your money for a real car that does not squeal at 30 mph turns
d) Only other poor boy wanna-be's care about your loud stereo

Dunno if this rates as a modification, but my brother and I saw a bumper sticker that read "My other car is a KLINGON BIRD of PREY"! We laughed and laughed and laughed.......

Hey Pink Eye, I sure the fuck hope that wasn't directed at me.
Yeah, I think trying to polish a turd is funny, which is what a lot of people end up doing when they "dress" their cars up. When I see a $500 car with twice that amount invested in rims, I laugh.
Sorry if you think I'm a "god damned nerd" but it's true. If someone offends your sensibilities in a thread, don't flame the whole fucking board, asshole.

(edited for fucked up quote)

I actually saw one of these when I was at Ikea a few weeks ago. The one I saw isn't in the gallery (the gallery pics actually look better than the one I saw), but it was just covered in Star Wars-related stickers, decals, and arabesh script.

It was ugly as hell, and embarassing to boot (being a Star Wars fan, people who go to far embarass us all)
